That was the sharing of veterans of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) at the Conference to summarize the 2023 emulation and deploy the 2024 work plan organized by the school's Veterans Association on the morning of December 22, 2023.

In the atmosphere of celebrating the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2023), the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, held an incense offering ceremony at the Memorial Monument of generations of cadres and students of Hanoi National University who joined the army to protect the Fatherland. The sacred feelings of teachers who are veterans, of school leaders towards colleagues, comrades, and teammates made the atmosphere of the incense offering ceremony warmer and more sincere. The incense offering ceremony has become an annual tradition of the soldiers of the past, no matter how busy they are, they cannot forget.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Emulation Summary Conference and the 2024 Work Plan Implementation of the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Hao - Vice President of the Veterans Association, former Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, reminded: “Over the past 79 years, our soldiers have fought tirelessly to protect the country from invasion and oppression by foreign invaders. Many comrades have sacrificed for us to have today. The Vietnam People's Army is not only a national defense force but also actively participates in the construction and development of the economy, society, and culture. They have been and are constantly contributing to the cause of building an increasingly strong and prosperous country”.

Affirming the achievements and recognizing the sacrifices and losses of generations of cadres and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the cause of defending the Fatherland, Major General Nguyen Manh Su - Vice President of the Hanoi Veterans Association said that the University has had more than 1,000 cadres and lecturers participating in the military, including 105 heroic martyrs in the resistance wars to save the country. Returning from the battlefield, the veterans have performed their tasks at the school excellently and made great contributions to society with 70% of the veterans participating in the state administrative apparatus.
The spirit of patriotism combined with pride in the long tradition of the University has fostered in the teachers who "put down their pens and go to war" a spirit of courage, solidarity, attachment, and mutual support in work and in life.
Veterans are an important resource for school development.

Prof. Dr. Lam Ba Nam - former Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, member of the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities emphasized that Veterans are an important resource with great contributions to the development of the university. Up to 2/3 of the veterans of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have academic titles and degrees of Doctor, Associate Professor, Professor, directly participating in teaching and research. With the spirit of solidarity and pride, the soldiers of the University of General Sciences are always ready to contribute to the development of the National University, Hanoi in general and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular.

Returning to the podium, the teachers who were former veterans continue to contribute their efforts and intelligence to the sustainable development of the school. The activities of the Veterans Association with the consensus of its members have achieved many results. In 2023, the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities actively encouraged its members to contribute to the fund "Contributing stones to build Truong Sa", the fund of Project 03/DA-CCB "Hanoi City Veterans unite to help members develop the economy, reduce poverty, build houses of solidarity and charity activities" with a total amount of 5,200,000 VND; actively encouraged its members to participate in the contest to discover and write typical advanced examples "Good people, good deeds" and expand the movement "Exemplary Veterans in 2023". The Association has coordinated with the Trade Union and the School Youth Union to host and participate in major events, successfully organizing a trip back to the source for all members.
In 2023, the Association proposed and was approved by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association and awarded Commemorative Medals to 4 comrades: Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Principal of the University of War and War; Prof. Dr. Hoang Ba Thinh; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh and comrade Trinh Ngoc Tuyen. The Association was awarded 01 certificate of merit by the Hanoi Veterans Association for the Association and 03 certificates of merit for 03 members.
Major General Nguyen Manh Su presented and congratulated the veterans of VNU-USSH who were honored to receive the Vietnam Veterans Medal in 2023.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities believes that the Veterans Association will continue to be a core resource in consulting, accompanying and supporting the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Expressing gratitude for the contributions of the Veterans, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities believes that the Veterans Association with its prestigious intellectuals will continue to be the core resource in consulting, accompanying and supporting the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to become stronger and stronger, affirming its leading position in training and research in social sciences of the country. The Vice Rector also affirmed that the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University will always support meaningful activities in line with the general policy of the Veterans Association. "The University's companionship and support for the activities of the Veterans Association is a responsibility and a very natural sentiment, because the Veterans Association is an important part of the stature of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities" - Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh expressed.
