Directions and Development Strategy of University of Social Sciences and Humanities
Chairing the Conference, on behalf of the School Board of Directors, Party Secretary and Principal Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his deep gratitude for the attention and participation of the former leaders of the School in the Conference, which is of great significance in preparation for the 29th School Party Congress. Party Secretary Hoang Anh Tuan expressed that the School leadership wished to listen to the valuable guidance and advice of the teachers, not only for the Political Report of the Party Congress, but more importantly, for building a development strategy for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the next 10 years and beyond.

That is an important content that the delegates attending the conference focused on analyzing and discussing about the development strategy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the coming time.
At the Conference, veteran cadres with many years of experience in management, training, scientific research, and at the same time, leading scientists in many fields frankly exchanged with profound and practical analysis. All opinions expressed their approval and high consensus on the content of the documents prepared for the Party Congress of the University for the term 2025-2030, and at the same time highly appreciated the spirit of frankness, daring to look straight, speaking the truth about some points that have not been done and proposing fundamental solutions. With that spirit, along with the political determination and solidarity of the collective leadership and all cadres, lecturers and students, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will certainly successfully complete the tasks set for the term 2025-2030.
Regarding the University's development strategy to 2035 and vision to 2045, the contributions emphasized solutions to realize the goals in a context with many advantages but also many challenges. With major changes in political and social life, fierce competition among all educational institutions, university autonomy is a mandatory requirement and a huge challenge, especially for universities training and researching basic sciences. Besides, in the digital age, science and technology develop at a breakneck speed, the emergence and increasingly deep penetration of artificial intelligence into all aspects of social life requires universities to transform rapidly to adapt and develop.
Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu - Chairman of the Science and Technology Council, the School's Policy Advisory Council; former member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, former Party Secretary, the first Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized the three most important "breakthroughs", the key to successfully implementing the school's development strategy: Breakthrough in thinking and awareness; Breakthrough in management organization and Breakthrough in resources for investment in development.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Long (Former Vice President of VNU, former Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; former Party Secretary, Rector of University of Social Sciences and Humanities) emphasized the need to analyze more deeply the current domestic and international context as well as forecast trends to set appropriate development goals.
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Former Party Secretary, Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), the most important thing is to come up with the most fundamental solutions and focus all resources on implementation in order to realize strategic goals.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Giap (Former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) emphasized the important task of discovering, nurturing and investing in building a team of highly qualified, leading scientists.
According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Former Party Secretary, Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), it is necessary to drastically innovate all aspects and fields of the University, developing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities into a modern research university on par with the region.
Associate Professor Dr. Lam Ba Nam (Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, former Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) needs to have solutions to attract and retain good staff, creating a democratic, creative and liberal academic environment.
Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu (Former Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) emphasized continuing to open new fields of study, fields, and specialized directions of applied nature, based on the fields in which the University has strengths in terms of training history and leading experts.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Gia Lam (Former Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) noted the need to strengthen digital transformation in all activities, building a smart university with smart learning spaces and modern learning methods.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (Former Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, currently Head of the Faculty of Literature), it is necessary to analyze more carefully the latest documents on scientific and technological innovation to have appropriate policies to make the most of opportunities for breakthroughs.
Speaking at the Conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice President of VNU affirmed: In recent years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has made strong progress in all aspects, including some breakthroughs and pioneering fields, which have been highly appreciated by VNU leaders. The key goals in the development strategy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities such as: internationalization of training and research; promoting digital transformation; increasing national responsibility in consulting on local sustainable development policies, etc. have promoted the unit's strengths and adapted to the world context. Therefore, VNU leaders believe that with proactiveness, creativity and strong innovation, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will have many breakthroughs in the coming time, affirming its core role in VNU, its leading position in the country and reaching the regional level.

The Party Committee and the Board of Directors respectfully and seriously accept all comments to complete the documents of the Party Congress of the School for the term 2025-2030, as well as the development strategy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the direction of a modern research university, striving to be in the top 100 universities in the continent by 2035 and on par with the advanced universities (in the top 500) of the world.
