Oesol – SJ Tech Scholarship: A Great Encouragement for Korean Studies StudentsThis is the 11th time that Oesol Foundation and SJ Tech Vietnam Company have awarded scholarships to VNU-USSH students since the two units officially signed a cooperation agreement (2022), each time there are 9 scholarships, each worth more than 6 million VND. These are students with excellent academic achievements (03 students); those with very difficult family circumstances but have tried to excel in their studies (03 students) and are class officers, Youth Union - Association officers, and have made positive contributions to the student movement and the community (03 students).
At the scholarship awarding ceremony, Mr. Choi Myung-sik, Chairman of the Oesol Foundation, congratulated the students for their continuous efforts to achieve excellent results in both their studies and extracurricular activities. Introducing the goals of the Oesol Foundation, Mr. Choi Myung-sik emphasized: “Founded by the outstanding linguist, Koreanologist, and OESOL teacher Choe Hyun-bae, over the past 50 years, we have always tried to carry out many activities to develop Korean studies, spreading Korean culture in countries around the world, focusing on investing in education. Through awarding scholarships to students, we hope to fulfill our social responsibility to the young generation - the future owners of countries, and also be a bridge to introduce Korean culture, country, and people to international friends.”

Hangeul and Korean Culture Day: A Practical Opportunity to Improve Professional Knowledge
Also at the scholarship award ceremony,Oesol Association and SJ Tech Company presented the prizes of the “Korean Impressions” Contest within the framework of theThe Hangeul and Korean Culture Festival 2024 was organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with the Oesol Association and SJ Tech Company (Korea) in September 2024. This is also the occasion to celebrate the 578th anniversary of Hangeul Creation Day and the 130th anniversary of the birth of the great linguist Oesol Choe Hyun-bae (1894-1970) - who made great contributions to the development and preservation of Hangeul. The festival is not only an occasion to honor the cultural heritage and language of Korea but also an opportunity for students and lecturers of Korean Studies in Vietnam to learn, exchange and experience the profound cultural values of the host country. At the event, performances from the student club brought vibrant and attractive performances, such as Samulnori, a performance of traditional Korean musical instruments, K-pop dance, especially the delicate and artistic Hangeul writing performance; demonstrating the love and deep understanding of VNU-USSH students about Hangeul and Korean culture.
Within the framework of the Festival, an activity that attracted the participation of many students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies was the “Korean Impressions” Contest, with the theme of expressing understanding and emotions when watching a clip introducing the great linguist Oesol Choe Hyun-bae and Hangeul. In just a short time, the Organizing Committee of the Contest received many high-quality entries with creative and unique forms of expression.
Master Heo Seon, representing the Organizing Committee, shared about the judging criteria and awarded the writing of his impressions about the Hangeulnal and Korean clips.
To recognize and encourage students' passion for research, the Organizing Committee selected excellent entries to award 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 1 third prize and 17 consolation prizes with valuable gifts.
