Calligraphy Competition "Phoenix City Spring Color": Spreading the spirit of "Education and growth"

The contest was jointly organized by the Faculty of Literature Union - Faculty of Literature Association and the Department of Han Nom, Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU on February 15, 2025.
The final round of the Calligraphy Competition “Phuong Thanh Xuan Sac” with the theme “Education and growth” attracted the participation of many lecturers, students, alumni and scholars from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and other universities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Dr. Le Van Cuong - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Literature emphasized that the contest "Phuong Thanh Xuan Sac" was organized for the first time but it created a lot of motivation to promote the study and learning of calligraphy, Han Nom in general and the practice of virtue in particular among students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
“Mutual learning” is a two-way educational motto, from the individual learner or the teacher must have the spirit of “selfish learning” (learning for oneself), always promoting the initiative and spirit of learning of the individual. Only then can education develop and achieve effectiveness.
The theme of the final round and also the continuation of the source was initiated from the theme of Spring wind and rain, because of the noble nature of knowledge transmission, the sacred bond between teacher and student becomes a pillar in social order in general and Confucian etiquette in particular.
Through each stroke of the pen, each sentence, the theme "Education and Learning for Growth" is not only presented in a subtle way but also conveys a profound educational message: teaching and learning are not two parallel paths, but two intertwined streams, nurturing and enriching each other to build a constantly developing society.
Dr. Le Van Cuong - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, spoke at the contest.
 
Each work participating in the contest not only demonstrates the talent of the writer but also is a harmonious combination of technique and emotion, bringing strong impressions to the audience.
The best candidates won prizes in the Final Round of the competition, including:
- First prize: Vuong Thi Thanh Mai - Student of K69 Han Nom
- Second prize: Dinh Xuan Bac - Student of K66 Han Nom
- Third prize: Hoang Ngoc - Student of K66 Han Nom
- Encouragement prize: Bui Minh Trang - Student of K66 Han Nom
- The award for Most Favorite Contestant voted by the audience went to student Vuong Thi Thanh Mai.

In the final round, students had the opportunity to interact with calligraphers, ask for calligraphy and develop a passion for researching and learning calligraphy. The words written by the calligraphers brought many profound messages about life to those who asked for calligraphy. This was not only an opportunity to connect artists and the public, but also a forum to honor the traditional art of calligraphy so that the community could better understand the cultural and spiritual values ​​of Vietnamese culture.
The jury of the competition includes lecturers and calligraphers inside and outside the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
