Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam - Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, spoke at the launching ceremony of "Vietnamese Language Honor Day" and the contest "Searching for Vietnamese Language Ambassadors Abroad in 2025"
According to Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam, since the beginning of 2025, Asian and Australian countries have had the largest number of overseas Vietnamese participating in the Online Channel, consistent with the reality that this is where the largest number of overseas Vietnamese live. In addition, Europe (Germany, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, UK) continues to be the region with high demand, while Asia (Japan, Taiwan) has also grown significantly. The breakthrough growth in the number of registrations and the expansion of nationalities (from 10 to 23 countries) shows that the program is increasingly meeting the needs of overseas Vietnamese communities around the world, especially the younger generation.
In addition to the above fundamental political tasks, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with a core team of experts from the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language has coordinated with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Ministry of Education and Training to develop a framework for training, teaching and granting Vietnamese language teaching certificates to hundreds of overseas Vietnamese teachers participating in courses organized in person and online. The program "Hello Vietnam" by the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language in cooperation with VTV4 - the foreign television channel of Vietnam Television - has been implemented for the fourth year with a positive effect of spreading Vietnamese language in the foreign community and overseas Vietnamese.
The career of teaching Vietnamese language and culture at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU is closely linked to the historical journey of the mission of teaching Vietnamese language, translating and interpreting Vietnamese, pioneering in building a system of Vietnamese teaching methods for foreigners. On that glorious journey, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has constantly strived to contribute and share with overseas Vietnamese about the source of language teaching materials, reviving the culture of the origin, opening up great opportunities for those far from home to access and live with Vietnamese culture and modern Vietnamese language.
VNU is the only public university that has been carrying out the national mission of launching the Vietnamese Teaching Channel for Vietnamese people abroad since 2022, based on the system of materials with the largest coverage of the language teaching ecosystem ever compiled by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: including a set of 6-level Vietnamese teaching materials, a set of 6-level Vietnamese assessment tests, a 6-level Vietnamese test bank, Vietnamese specialized in Social Sciences and Humanities, Science and Technology, Vietnamese Culture and Arts, Vietnamese Folktales and a set of handbooks on Vietnamese cuisine, Vietnamese tourism, Vietnamese commerce, Vietnamese common communication and a set of 6 Vietnamese teaching guidebooks.
