Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh (Vice Principal of the School) chaired the Conference
In the summary report on the enrollment activities of regular university and postgraduate training in 2021, Dr. Hoang Van Quynh - Deputy Head of Training Department shared information: In 2021, the number of wishes registered for university admission based on the admission method of high school graduation exam results for the majors/training programs (CTDT) of the School increased by more than 42% compared to 2020 with 42,148 registered wishes. Of which, the ratio of wishes 1-2-3 alone accounts for over 44% of the total number of registered wishes and no major/CTDT has the number of registered wishes less than the announced quota. The number of applications for admission groups with foreign languages accounted for over 72%, a sharp increase compared to the rate of over 60% in 2020. There were 1,577 applications with more than 2,800 applications for direct admission, priority admission, admission based on international certificates and results of the competency assessment test (ĐGNL) organized by VNU, an increase of more than 2 times compared to 2020.
Thus, the number of applications for all admission methods increased sharply compared to 2020, especially in methods such as international certificate admission and high school graduation exam results admission. Admission on the Ministry of Education and Training's common admission software was carried out publicly, transparently and accurately. The total number of candidates admitted to the whole school exceeded the set target, in which all majors/training programs achieved an admission rate of 100% or more. The admission confirmation and admission process in 2021 was carried out 100% online. Admissions consulting still promptly implemented many activities both in person and online. Admissions for the second training program were also implemented as planned and met the target.
In addition, some limitations in the enrollment work were also pointed out such as: Communication work in general and promotion - enrollment consulting in particular are still lacking in synchronization between units in the school; the admission structure and admission conditions in some majors/training programs are still not suitable; some tasks in the enrollment process are still done manually, without investment in information technology applications such as collecting applications for direct admission, priority admission, etc.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam (Head of Training Department) spoke at the Conference
In the 2022 admission season, to adapt to the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, some specific directions and activities in university admission activities are proposed such as: Focusing on building products and implementing forms of online admission promotion and consulting instead of direct consulting activities; Building an online registration software system for specific admission subjects: direct admission, priority admission, admission based on competency assessment test results and international certificates; Adjusting admission combinations, adding conditions on academic results with the admission form based on high school exam results in accordance with the input quality requirements and training content of each major/training program; Increasing the admission quota ratio for specific admission groups such as national excellent students, specialized students of specialized high schools, students with international certificates, students with VNU's National University Entrance Exam results, etc.; Organize a series of online promotion and admissions consulting activities with the theme "Road to USSH" with the following activities: livestream to introduce admissions information, majors/training programs, training units, learning environment, etc.; create videos and electronic lectures introducing course content or some typical and specific courses of each major/training program and post them on fanpage, youtube, website, etc. so that students can access and better understand the majors/training programs of the School; edit and complete existing documents introducing majors and professions including "Handbook of social sciences and humanities", "Humanities Infographic - What to study? What to do?" and publish them as e-books; coordinate with VNU, universities, press and media agencies to organize online admissions consulting programs, post admissions information of the School, etc.

Regarding postgraduate admission activities, in 2021, the University organized 2 admission rounds, recruiting 376 graduate students and 69 doctoral students, both exceeding 100% of the assigned target. This year, the new point of postgraduate admission is that VNU has added a direct master's admission method, flexibly changing the admission method from in-person to online to suit the complicated epidemic situation and encouraging candidates to confidently take the exam. Postgraduate admission work also received comments to overcome the limitations of: the difficulty of recruiting in some specific master's and doctoral majors and specialties; the limitation of distant majors and close majors of majors significantly affects the subjects eligible to take the master's entrance exam; Knowledge Supplementation needs to be given more attention in some units; communication and promotion work for postgraduate admission needs to be promoted...
At the Conference, Vice Principal Lai Quoc Khanh affirmed: Despite many difficulties, the School has had a very successful admission period for all systems with an increase in the number of students registering for admission, the quality of incoming candidates is assessed to be better than the previous period. This positive result is due to many reasons: the quality of the School's training activities is still guaranteed; the School still maintains its attractiveness in terms of reputation and brand in society; the adaptation and flexibility in admission work in accordance with the actual situation; the good coordination between units, the dedication of the team of teachers doing admission...
Dr. Hoang Van Quynh (Department of Training) presented the Report on Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions in 2021 and Admissions Orientation in 2022
The Vice President also emphasized that, in the long term, to attract students to study the University's training programs, the most important thing that the University and training units need to do is related to the way to build training programs, the quality of the content of the training programs, the ability to connect between training programs... In the immediate future, restructuring of the university training programs will be implemented in the direction of increasing connectivity, inter-discipline, and inter-field; increasing common credits to promote human resource connectivity, creating attractiveness for training programs; increasing opportunities for dual degrees for students and expanding university entrance opportunities... 2022 will also be the year to promote quality assessment in all systems, deploying conditions to build technical and economic norms for training programs. The University also requested that units soon propose adjustments to the admission subjects if any, and open timely and effective supplementary classes for university entrance exams. The school will also consider options related to the new regulation of VNU on not organizing foreign languages as an entrance exam for graduate level.
