The content of the working session revolved around the organization of the International Scientific Conference “The Role of History Education in Building Peace in East Asia”. As planned, the event will take place from July 19 to July 25, 2020 (3 days of main conference and 3 days of field trips) in Hanoi. Representatives of the two sides discussed and reached preliminary agreement on issues such as auditorium, participants, language, reception procedures and equipment.

On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim highly appreciated the idea of organizing the conference and affirmed the interest of the University as well as the Vietnamese historian community in this significant event. The Vice President pledged that the University will create the best conditions to ensure the success of the conference. On behalf of the Association for History and Peace in East Asia, Prof. Jang-Hie Lee expressed his honor to visit a prestigious educational institution in Vietnam on Social Sciences and Humanities. He said that the conference in July will be an opportunity to enhance the exchange and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Korea. From there, lessons will be drawn for the development of bilateral relations in the future, contributing to the common peace of the world.
The History and Peace Association in East Asia was established in 2007 with the organization of the first History and Peace Conference in Seoul, Korea. The mission of the Association is to realize the goals related to peace, history and to create a common awareness of history with domestic and foreign organizations. Some of the activities of the Association are organizing History and Peace conferences, exchanging and building links with international NGOs, supporting member organizations to improve their capacity, etc.
