VNU-USSH jointly organizes the contest "Learning about Mekong sub-regional cooperation"

The event was honored to welcome Mr. Mau Ve Thanh - Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam; Ms. Nguyen Bich Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with teachers representing participating schools and the Jury, along with many experts in international relations research from a number of universities in Hanoi.
The competition was attended by 04 teams of excellent students from 04 schools: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Diplomatic Academy, Academy of Journalism and Communication and Hanoi University. The event also attracted the participation and cheering of nearly 400 students from 04 schools.    
Speaking at the opening ceremony, representing the organizing unit, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thanh Nam (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the University Council) shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is honored to be entrusted by the Department of Economic Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs to host the 2nd Mekong Sub-region Cooperation Competition. The competition is not only an opportunity for students and the young generation of Vietnam to demonstrate their awareness, responsibility and creativity in proposing solutions to participate in solving the Mekong - Lancang region, as well as the world and the region are posing: climate change, food security, water security, people's livelihoods, etc. Delegates from the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs highly appreciated the idea of ​​organizing the contest and the initiative and responsibility of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, which not only successfully hosted this event but also actively and effectively participated in projects and action programs within the framework of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Mechanism. After the welcoming speeches of the distinguished guests, the three teams (each team consisting of 4 members) officially began their exciting competitions through three rounds with the following topics:
Round 1: We are from the Mekong-Lancang region
Round 2: Cooperation for Sustainable Development of the Mekong-Lancang Region
Round 3: Promoting international cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong region
In each competition, the teams demonstrated a broad and comprehensive understanding of the natural, socio-economic, religious, cultural and environmental conditions of the six countries participating in the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation.
Before the question“How can the young generation contribute to the development of the Mekong sub-region in the new era, especially in the trend of digitalization and innovation?The judges representing the schools demonstrated profound, comprehensive knowledge and courage, and their ability to speak confidently and fluently. The explanations that the teams gave were highly appreciated by the judges as well as international relations experts from the universities. This shows the serious research, careful preparation, eagerness to learn, and passion for research of the students.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to the Team of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, the Second Prize to the Team of the Diplomatic Academy and the Third Prize to two teams from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Hanoi University.
