VNU-USSH continues to cooperate with META on AI applications in teaching, learning and research

This is the content of the working session between the leaders of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) and representatives of META Group (Facebook) on March 11, 2025.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities sincerely thanked META for its practical and effective cooperation and companionship with the school over the past years.
The cooperation between the two sides has brought many achievements, including the successful development of the Digital Competency Framework for students. In May 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was the first university to issueDigital Competency Framework for Students with the goal of helping students acquire the necessary digital competencies to live, study, work and participate in social communication proactively, positively and safely in the digital environment. This digital competency framework has been widely used and provided to all organizations and training units as a reference document for developing digital competency programs for each specific subject. In January 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training issued a Circular on the Digital Competency Framework for learners in the national education system with the participation of scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Recently, within the framework ofGen AI Capacity Building Project for lecturers and students to be deployed from the end of 2024 to March 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has coordinated with Meta Group to successfully organize 5 training courses on Gen AI with more than 250 lecturers and experts participating, and 16 courses for students and pupils attracting more than 800 learners. The classes are also conducted on online channels, attracting followers and access.
Mr. Ruici Tio - Manager of the Asia Pacific Safety and Integrity Policy Program of Meta Group highly appreciated the effectiveness of the cooperation between META and VNU-USSH in the past time. At the meeting, the two sides discussed and agreed on a number of cooperation contents in the coming time.
Accordingly, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will host a workshop to collect expert opinions on the issuance of the Universal Education Competency Framework in March 2025, develop training content on IT knowledge for lecturers and students; develop short-term courses for lecturers and students; integrate training content on Gen Al into the Applied Informatics course of VNU-USSH; publish an AI user manual and prepare to transfer and expand to universities at VNU, Hanoi...
VNU-USSH and META Group have had an effective cooperative relationship in many projects.
Within the framework of cooperation, on the afternoon of March 13, 2025, representatives of functional units of Hanoi National University (VNU) and representatives of META Group had discussions and wished to sign an MOU/MOA with VNU with the following contents: Expanding AI Gen training for lecturers and students in VNU (on the basis of training for lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Law and University of Economics). META wishes to provide in-depth courses on AI for students in engineering and technology (online training courses on Coursera); provide datasets (Data for good) for study and research; create opportunities to apply for grants to develop LLama (global and regional grants, highly competitive).
Previously, in September 2024, Meta's President of Global External Relations Nick Clegg visited and worked at VNU, in which he particularly emphasized the strategic role of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in promoting digital capacity for students. This is part of the long-term cooperation commitment between Meta and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to develop the capacity to use Gen AI of students and lecturers, contributing to supporting the digital transformation process in higher education.
The cooperation between the two sides has been implemented since 2020, with phase 1 focusing on developing comprehensive digital capacity for the school's students, including building a digital capacity framework as a basis for training and assessing the necessary digital knowledge and skills of students in the digital age, thereby helping them become global digital citizens.
Building on the success of phase 1, Meta continues to commit to accompanying phase 2 with the goal of not only equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills about Gen AI but also helping lecturers develop academic expertise in this field.
