VNU-USSH and GASS jointly research and publish publications on some historical issues of Vietnam - China

This is the content that was highly agreed upon in the working session between representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU (VNU-USSH) and the Guangxi Provincial Academy of Social Sciences (GASS) on the afternoon of April 22, 2024.
At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU expressed his joy at welcoming the delegation of the Guangxi Provincial Institute of Social Sciences with meaningful cooperation results. Accordingly, after a period of discussion, the two sides had similarities in cooperation views and wished to implement an effective joint research program, contributing to deepening the good friendship between Vietnam and China.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, emphasized the profound significance of the research cooperation project between VNU-USSH and GASS.
Mr. Xian Shao Hua - Director of the Institute of History, Guangxi Provincial Academy of Social Sciences expressed his confidence in cooperating with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU in research activities in the coming time.
Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Xian Shao Hua - Director of the Institute of History, Guangxi Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, hoped that the two sides would soon sign a memorandum of understanding to realize the cooperation contents.
The two sides discussed the coordination of organizing an international scientific conference on President Ho Chi Minh and implementing a joint research project on “Oral history of teachers and students of the School for children of Communist Party of Vietnam cadres in Guangxi”.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed specific cooperation possibilities in the research project on “Oral history of teachers and students of the school for children of Vietnamese Communist Party cadres in Guangxi”. The project has been approved and funded by the Guangxi Provincial Academy of Social Sciences for research in 2024-2025 and has the participation of leading scientists in historical and archival research from the Department of History and the Department of Archives and Office Management, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. It is expected that the research results of the above project will be published in a Vietnamese-Chinese bilingual publication to spread the research values.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Hong Son - Deputy Head of the Department of History discussed the project's cooperation possibilities.
Previously, in December 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, had a meeting and worked with the delegation of the Academy of Social Sciences of Guangxi Province, China and shared the advantages of cooperation between the two units in training and research in many fields, especially issues such as research on the good relationship in the past between Vietnam and China, strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two countries in the current context.

Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences (GASS) is a comprehensive research center in Guangxi. The four main research areas of the Institute are History, Culture; Southeast Asia and International Affairs; Regional Strategy and Economic Studies; Sinicization of Marxism-Leninism. The Institute's special feature is research on Southeast Asian countries, especially Vietnam. Over the years, GASS has had many research results on Vietnam such as: Vietnam-China friendship, research on President Ho Chi Minh.
