Vovinam Humanity Club - new meeting place

On the occasion of the Vietnamese Journalists' Day (June 21, 2014), the K58 Public Relations class (Faculty of Journalism and Communication) with the support of the Student Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication established the Vovinam Nhan Van Club. Different from professional clubs such as the Cinema Club (Faculty of Literature), the Student Social Work Team (Faculty of Sociology), the Young Writers Club (Faculty of Journalism and Communication), the Vovinam Nhan Van Club is the first martial arts club with a strong cultural, sports and aesthetic character at the University.

Vovinam Nhan Van Club took a souvenir photo with Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication) and Ms. Nguyen Mai Lan (President of the School's Student Association) on the launching day.

The club currently has over 30 members. The club's executive board consists of Pham Kien Trung (K58 Public Relations - Head of the Executive Board of Vovinam Nhan Van Club), the main coach of the club is Tran Hong Thuy (student of K54 Journalism and Communication). In addition to the main members from K58 Public Relations, Vovinam Nhan Van also attracts the participation of many students inside and outside the school. These are students from the Faculty of Psychology, Tourism, Sociology (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and students from the University of Natural Sciences (VNU), Hanoi University, Dai Nam University, University of Water Resources... The special thing about Vovinam Nhan Van Club is that the club continuously recruits members. New members will be guided and assisted wholeheartedly by the coaches and members of the club. The club always maintains stable and effective activities from 6-8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays every week. During practice sessions, the number of members always fluctuates from 25-30 people. Therefore, for nearly half a year, the BC home ground of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has become a meeting place for Vovinam Nhan Van members in particular and students interested in and loving Vovinam in general to exchange and practice together. Coming to Vovinam Nhan Van means coming to a serious and effective practice atmosphere but also full of laughter and excitement.

Vovinam Nhan Van Club in a training session

The initial purpose of establishing the Club came about by chance. We, the K58 Public Relations class, wanted to have a Club to create a unique mark during our student years, and at the same time, we could practice our health together and serve our studies because the characteristics of the Public Relations industry require a lot of activities." Pham Kien Trung (K58 Public Relations - Head of the Vovinam Nhan Van Club) shared. From 10 members in the early days, Vovinam Nhan Van has gradually affirmed its position in the activities and movements of Culture - Sports - Aesthetics in the school and has moved towards exchange activities with many other martial arts clubs in Hanoi.

Vovinam Nhân Văn members in an extracurricular activity

After a short period of operation, Vovinam Nhân văn quickly found its true voice and purpose of existence. That is to maintain and develop the first and only martial arts club in the school to discover and nurture Nhân văn talents; create long-term relationships with teachers, friends and connections with other universities; contribute to preserving traditional martial arts, promoting traditional values of the nation. Operating in an environment where female students "overwhelm" male students and the majority of the club members are female, Vovinam Nhân văn had to make great efforts to find a new direction of development.

Learning martial arts is to surpass yourself, to show your full potential. Learning martial arts is to protect what is right. Learning martial arts is also learning to be a human being." - Huyen (student of K58 Social Work) shared. Although she is a new member of the Club, Huyen learns martial arts very quickly and becomes one of the outstanding faces of the Club. For Huyen as well as the members of Vovinam Nhan Van, Vovinam - Vietnamese martial arts is not only about learning martial arts but also about learning human ethics. Vovinam Nhan Van always brings Huyen harmony with fellow students, excitement and good health, a comfortable spirit, helping her practice effectively and study better. In addition to the time participating in training and activities with the members of CLC, Huyen is also an active member participating in exchanges with CLC Ba Dinh.

In addition to the active support from the Student Union and the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, members also contribute a small amount of funds to maintain learning activities and exchange with clubs outside the school.

Currently, the Vovinam Nhân Văn Club always maintains a friendly relationship with the Ba Dinh and FSB Clubs. Members of the Vovinam Club often visit these clubs to practice, exchange and learn experiences. In order to create closeness and familiarity, the three clubs: Vovinam Nhân Văn, FSB and Ba Dinh Club have organized trips together. These are opportunities to expand relationships and promote the image of the Vovinam Nhân Văn Club to friends outside, and also opportunities for members to understand, love and connect with each other more. In the near future, the Club plans to expand its relationship with the Van Quan Club and the Ngoai Giao Club.
