Professor Phan Huy Le not only shared many things about his love and passion for research and History but also expressed his admiration and respect for great teachers such as Professor Dao Duy Anh, Professor Dang Thai Mai, Professor Cao Xuan Huy, etc. Professor Phan Huy Le said that his generation was extremely lucky to be guided by erudite masters, to be imbued with the spirit of independence, self-reliance and self-study early on; to be trained in thinking methods which are important foundations to help researchers go further and deeper on the path of science.
He also told interesting stories related to the origin of the legendary title “Lam - Le - Tan - Vuong” (Prof. Dinh Xuan Lam - Prof. Phan Huy Le - Prof. Ha Van Tan - Prof. Tran Quoc Vuong). Despite having very different personalities and lifestyles, the four great figures of History met in the spirit of fierce, serious and dedicated science. The close friendship between the four great scientists was maintained in the spirit of respecting each other’s personalities and talents; from there, their combination not only created lifetime research works but also helped form a school of History that had a great influence on future generations.
The passing of Professor Phan Huy Le leaves behind a loss, regret and irreparable damage to the country's science.
