This morning, October 20, 2010, the Department of Anthropology - University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a launching ceremony and received decisions on appointing leaders of the Department.
This morning, October 20, 2010, the Department of Anthropology - University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a launching ceremony and received decisions on appointing leaders of the Department.The Department of Anthropology under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was formed on the foundation of the Department of Ethnology under the Faculty of History. With the shift in approach from ethnology to anthropology, the research object and scope of the Department of Anthropology has been expanded and raised to a new level. The Department of Anthropology currently has 8 staff members, Associate Professor, Dr. Lam Ba Nam is the Head of the Department and Dr. Nguyen Van Suu is the Deputy Head of the Department. The Department of Anthropology is one of 10 majors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities that enrolls students in all 3 groups A, C and D.

The first undergraduate class of the Department of Anthropology has been enrolled in the 2010–2011 academic year. Anthropology is the scientific study and exploration of the diversity, specificity and universality of cultures and languages, as well as the principles of social organization of human communities both in history and in the present. Anthropology is divided into five fields, including physical anthropology, archaeology, cultural-social anthropology, linguistic anthropology and applied anthropology. These fields form a comprehensive approach to the study of humans in the past and present around the world.
