The conference participants included key officials from the Party Committee, Party cell, Board of Directors, Faculty and Department Boards, Board of Directors of Centers, Union Executive Committee, Youth Union Executive Committee and heads and deputy heads of departments. The conference guests included: Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang - Vice President of VNU, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc - Vice President of VNU and representatives of many functional departments of VNU.

The delegates discussed and evaluated the achievements and shortcomings that need to be overcome in the school's activities in the past school year and discussed the direction and work plan for the 2009-2010 school year. The conference heard the following reports:Interim report of the school year 2008 - 2009of the Board of Directors;Some issues on personnel work in the new situation; Key tasks of training work in the 2009-2010 school year;On implementing science and technology tasks for the 2008-2009 school year; financial report for the 2008-2009 school year.

In the school year summary report, regarding training work, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Gia Lam - Vice Principal of the School - emphasized: "The work of the school's credit-based training conversion process is being implemented comprehensively in both breadth and depth. The roadmap is generally being implemented according to plan, on schedule and achieving some positive results.”. In addition, the enrollment of all systems was carried out on schedule, in accordance with regulations, without any errors. In addition to the regular and non-regular systems, joint training methods, training under government agreements, and short-term training were maintained and expanded. This was also the first year the school deployed enrollment and organized training in Linguistics according to an international standard program with 19 students, including 3 foreign students. The work of compiling programs, textbooks, and lectures was aimed at meeting the requirements of the key task of the school year, which is to focus all resources on the transition to credit-based training. The work of innovating teaching methods and the work of assessing training quality were carried out seriously and effectively.

In the 2008-2009 school year, career guidance and employment for students were focused on through specific surveys of graduates, organizing training seminars to meet social needs, organizing many extracurricular programs to foster foreign languages, professional skills and soft skills, closely cooperating with a number of localities in introducing jobs for graduates...

Regarding postgraduate training, the scale and structure of training have made new developments. Compared to the 2007-2008 school year, the scale of master's training increased by 22.4%, doctoral training increased by 42.1%, raising the scale of postgraduate training of the school to over 25% of the scale of regular training. In addition to 28 doctoral training programs and 29 master's training programs, the school has built a master's training program in Social Work and is building a master's training program in Management Science and a PhD in Archival Science. The units in the school have successfully implemented the credit-based conversion of the entire master's and doctoral training programs.

The outstanding achievement of scientific research activities this year is to propose highly feasible scientific and technological tasks. The 2008-2009 school year is also the year the school has the most number of State-level topics: 5 topics.

Regarding international cooperation, the School continues to maintain and expand international cooperation relations through activities such as: signing cooperation agreements with 6 new partners, opening additional forms of cooperation in degree training, implementing and expanding international projects...

Regarding financial work, revenue development, financial management and use are carried out in accordance with principles, and the budget settlement deadline is completed on time. The school also has timely adjustments to internal spending regulations and regulations on the use of tuition fees to suit the reality. Regarding administrative and management work, the school has completed the amendment and supplementation of the Regulations on management decentralization and management operation procedures in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In addition to the achieved results, the reports at the conference pointed out the shortcomings that need to be overcome in the coming school year. These are: The school has not yet implemented a plan to improve professional skills for staff; the progress of implementing the training plan for the year as well as some stages in the credit-based training roadmap is still slow; there are still cases of overdue scientific research topics; some research centers operate ineffectively; the postgraduate training plan in some units has not been specifically and highly feasible...

The 2009-2010 school year is considered a pivotal year for the successful implementation of 6 programs towards standardizing activities and the School Development Plan to 2010, with a vision to 2020. On that basis, the general direction of activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is:

  • Strengthen the organizational structure from school level to units, promote and improve the quality of planning and training, and foster staff.
  • Continue to widely implement credit-based training methods for courses and training systems; expand the scale of high-quality training, international-level training and international cooperation, diversify training types to meet social needs.
  • Focus on building major science and technology tasks; improve the quality and practical value of scientific research activities to serve training and socio-economic development tasks of the country and the Capital.
  • Continue administrative reform; strengthen computerization of management work; find solutions to increase revenue; continue to expand lecture hall area and increase in-depth investment in facilities;
  • Implement the movement of Good Teaching, Good Learning; promote communication work, promote the image and brand of the school domestically and internationally.

  • Total number of staff: 535 (male: 46%, female: 54%)
  • Teaching staff: 379, administrative staff: 136
  • There are 7 professors, 57 associate professors, 135 doctors and doctors of science, 178 masters
