The Cinema Project organized a screening of the work of the students of course 5: the film "Trapped".
Time: 18:00 – Friday, May 14, 2010
Location: Cinematheque, 22A Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi During this film screening, the audience will have the opportunity to interact with the film crew, director Le Thanh Son, musician Tran Quang Minh... The students of the project will share their experiences in the process of studying, making films as well as their career development aspirations after graduating from the project course. As a regular activity after completing a screenwriting and filmmaking course at the Cinema Project, the film screening is a form of reporting the results achieved by the students during the learning process, as well as sharing with interested audiences their best first works. Previously, many works of students of the courses when screened received good comments and feedback from the audience and professionals. The Film Project at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, funded by the Ford Foundation, has been implemented since early 2006, with a ten-month full-time course each year, conducted free of charge, to develop young writing talents in screenwriting, film and television criticism in Vietnam. The project aims to train students in screenwriting skills, film and television criticism. The curriculum includes five compulsory subjects: History of World Cinema, Cinematic Art (Film Style), History of Vietnamese Cinema and Practical Hours “Brief News”. In addition to the five general subjects, students are divided into two groups, studying according to each major with many practical writing assignments. During these two specialized hours, students learn professional writing skills both in theory and practice with the guidance of experienced teachers. The subjects are taught by successful Vietnamese film directors and screenwriters, with the participation of many guest lecturers from Korea, the US and Europe. In addition, the course also organizes meetings and talks with domestic and foreign filmmakers such as Dang Nhat Minh, Pham Nhue Giang, Bui Thac Chuyen, Ngo Quang Hai, Ngo Thi Bich Hanh, Professor David James from the University of Film & Television of Southern California (Los Angeles, USA) and famous Korean filmmaker, Mr. Park Kwangsu, Director of the Asian Film Market in Pusan... To graduate, students must write a graduation thesis and undergo rigorous criticism by experts outside the school. Through this course, many students have had the opportunity to win scholarships for graduate studies in art and cinema at foreign universities. The Cinema Project will be a model for the formation of a bachelor's degree program in cinema at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU).
