On behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh sent New Year greetings to teachers and their families, and thanked them for their great contributions to the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The Principal also reviewed the outstanding achievements that the School achieved in 2013:
In the work of building and developing the team, the University has received 21 staff from two centers of VNU to work at the University, bringing the total number of staff to 530. There are 08 teachers recognized by the National Title Council as Professor and Associate Professor, bringing the total number of staff with academic titles to 20%, and the number of staff with PhD degrees to 50%.
Regarding training activities, the School continues to plan the development of majors and specialties until 2020. In 2014 alone, the School organized the enrollment of 4 new training majors at the undergraduate level, enrolling for the first time in the undergraduate Archival Studies major. Currently, the School has 23 Bachelor's degree training programs, 30 Master's degree training programs, and 39 Doctoral degree training programs. The School has over 8,000 full-time students, and nearly 3,000 postgraduate students.
2013 was a particularly successful year in scientific research activities. The school successfully bid for 12 research topics at the State and Protocol level, published 600 scientific articles, including more than 20 international publications. There were 02 works that won the VNU Outstanding Award, 05 works were selected for the Vietnam Book Award.
With the above achievements, the School continues to enhance its position domestically and internationally, receiving visits, work and assignment from Party and State leaders; and is a meeting place for many heads of state and international leaders.
The Principal emphasized that the development of the School today is greatly contributed by the team of former teachers. Although retired, the teachers still directly participate in research and training activities, contributing valuable ideas to the development strategy of the School. With their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm, the teachers are not only the "valuable assets" of the School but also a shining example for the next generation to follow.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh also expressed his wish to continue receiving the help and support of former teachers in the upcoming development journey, especially in the context that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is making great efforts to realize the goal of internationalizing training and research activities and improving quality towards international integration.
Associate Professor Nguyen Van Ham (Vice President of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) on behalf of all former teachers of the University reviewed the activities that the Association had done in 2013; at the same time, affirmed the joy and pride of each member of the Association when witnessing the new developments of the University - a common home containing the enthusiasm and affection of generations of teachers.
Also at the spring meeting, the school held a birthday celebration for 14 teachers over 80 years old, to show the respect and gratitude of the next generation to the elders who have contributed a lot to the development of the school.
