On November 24, 2015, the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, in collaboration with Kent University and Bradford University (UK) organized an international conference on the topic of "Marine Tourism".

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities delivered the opening speech at the conference.

Attending the workshop were representatives of the British Council - the sponsor of the research project; Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Vice President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; lecturers of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, researchers from the UK, Germany, Australia, Japan; experts in the tourism industry in Vietnam working at the Institute of Tourism Research and Development, National Economics University, Hanoi National University of Education, Thang Long University, and representatives of a number of travel companies in the Responsible Tourism Club (RTC) network.

During the workshop, Dr. Mark Hampton (University of Kent), Dr. Julia Jeyacheya (University of Bradford) and Dr. Pham Hong Long presented research results on Ha Long Bay tourism. The advantages and disadvantages of management mechanisms, natural resources, infrastructure, economic and social impacts were raised for participants to ask questions and discuss. In addition, the issue of human resources is also one of the major issues affecting the quality of services for sea tourism in Ha Long Bay, which was raised and specifically cited by Dr. Jeyacheya.

BIn addition to the presentation of the research results on Ha Long Bay Tourism, the conference also had the participation of Ms. Helen Brunt with a very detailed and accurate presentation on “Beach Tourism – Lessons from Malaysia”. This presentation provided a more comprehensive view on the development of sustainable beach tourism.

The seminar provided those who are researching marine tourism with a valuable and useful source of information, and was also an opportunity for guests to build long-term cooperative relationships.
