Towards the 7th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Master Trinh Minh Thai (Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) evaluated the results of political-ideological education, ethics and lifestyle for union members and students in the 2009-2012 term.
Any nation or country that wants to survive and develop must pay attention to training, educating and nurturing the young generation because they are the force that determines the fate of the nation and the development of the country. Historical reality through revolutionary periods has proven that our Party has always attached special importance to youth work, focusing on educating and nurturing youth in revolutionary ideals, improving political qualities, for the goal of building generations of successors who are absolutely loyal to the ideal of national independence associated with socialism. That ideal has been concretized in each revolutionary period into historical missions of the youth. As President Ho Chi Minh said, "Youth are the future masters of the country... The prosperity or decline of the country, weakness or strength, depends largely on the youth. If the youth want to be worthy masters of the future, they must train their spirit and strength right now, and work to prepare for that future." Political theory education, the core of which is Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, to build and foster revolutionary ideals for youth union members is an important and decisive content in training the "spirit and strength" of the young generation for the future of the country, the future of the cause of building socialism in Vietnam. In recent years, especially in the 2009-2012 term, the School Youth Union has always focused its work on political, ideological and cultural education for young people, actively contributing to training and nurturing a young generation with sufficient qualities and capacity to perform pioneering and creative tasks, continuing the glorious cause of the Party, implementing industrialization and modernization for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, equality, civilization, and gradually advancing to socialism. The School Youth Union has synchronously implemented many diverse and rich activities, innovated and expanded the forms of activities and study to continuously foster and improve theoretical awareness, thoroughly grasp the revolutionary guidelines and tasks for union members and young people; build political mettle, strengthen confidence, clearly define the responsibility of young people before the requirements and tasks of the country, enhance patriotism, love for socialism, the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, the will to build the country increasingly rich and prosperous. Propaganda and education work, deploying the study of basic political theories, studying and researching Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, thoroughly grasping the Party's policies and resolutions, organizing traditional activities, educating ethics, lifestyle, propagating, disseminating, educating the law for young people,... are regularly paid attention to, focused on, maintained and developed. In particular, the School Youth Union advocates linking political and ideological education with building a disciplined and civilized school environment; The initial orientation to build the student style of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: good at expertise, knowledgeable - proud of the school with rich traditions... The coordination and hosting of educational activities, orientation for union members organized by the City Youth Union and Hanoi National University has also been strengthened. In addition to the activities, the provision and orientation of information for union members and students is of special interest to the University Youth Union. In addition to the internal magazine "Volunteer", the information system to support students through the School Youth Tradition Room and the forum svnhanvan.org is maintained regularly. Thanks to that, the revolutionary action movements of the youth through many rich and diverse activities have been widely organized and implemented and have received the participation and response of a large number of union members and young people, and some activities have created a good effect in society. Typical examples include: the program "5 Good Students"; the talk show "Vietnam's Posture"; propaganda activities, mobilizing union members to participate in the election of National Assembly Deputies, People's Council Deputies at all levels for the 2011 - 2016 term; camping, singing contest for all staff and students of the whole school and the program "Exchange between students of K54 and alumni of Course I of Hanoi National University" on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of tradition, "Exchange and discussion between Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan and the youth of the capital", "Meeting 1000 young party members", Rally to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam... Notably, there are also activities demonstrating the initiative and creativity of the union branches, youth unions, and clubs such as: "Following the course of history" contest 2010 organized by the Union of the Faculty of History; "Learning about Ho Chi Minh's thought" contest 2010, 2011 jointly organized by the Union of the Faculty of Political Science, Management Science, Philosophy, and History; Film screening and photo exhibition, documents about Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the day he left to find a way to save the country (June 3-5, 2011) organized by the Youth Union of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and International Relations in coordination with the Department of Student Affairs and Policy.
As the core of gathering and educating the youth, the School Youth Union has launched pioneering movements in building a healthy lifestyle, resolutely fighting against negative manifestations, individualism, opportunism, pragmatism, selfishness, worthy of being a communist youth organization named after President Ho Chi Minh. Typical of these activities are the campaigns "Studying and following the example and morality of Ho Chi Minh", "Vietnamese youth studying and following Uncle Ho's words", "Vietnamese youth practicing thrift", actively building advanced models for the majority of union members and students to learn and follow. Along with the attention and creation of conditions for the young generation to develop comprehensively by the Party Committee and the School Board of Directors, it can be affirmed that union members and students have been promoting the heroic tradition of the nation, following the example of their fathers and grandfathers who made outstanding contributions, and have been and are making rapid steps of maturity. Thanks to that, through the above activities, along with the training and efforts of the members, many outstanding members have been introduced by the Youth Union to the Party for consideration and admission, contributing to the building of the Party and the building of the political system. During the 2009 - 2012 term, the School Youth Union introduced and admitted 109 outstanding members (exceeding the target of 100 outstanding members). It can be affirmed that the work of political and ideological education, especially the education of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought and revolutionary ideals for the youth has been contributing to creating generations of students with good attitudes and awareness, high political qualities, the will to overcome difficulties, rise up to establish themselves and their careers, strongly promoting the revolutionary tradition, volunteering and volunteering of previous generations of youth, including outstanding, proactive, creative members who are at the forefront of many activities. Although the work of educating union members and youth has achieved many remarkable results, it must be admitted that in the current period of accelerating industrialization, modernization of the country, and deep international integration, in addition to the very basic favorable conditions for studying and growing up, youth are also subject to significant impacts due to the negative side of development. These negative impacts inevitably lead to the low level of awareness, sense of responsibility, sense of organization and discipline of a part of the youth; a part of the youth has not yet correctly determined the revolutionary ideal, and many youth have even lost faith in the path that the Party, Uncle Ho and our people have chosen, have not firmly believed in the revolutionary ideal, are vague about the class struggle, the struggle between the two paths of socialism and capitalism, and waver in the face of the temporary and immediate difficulties of the country. Due to lack of confidence, a part of the youth has reduced their will to strive, is afraid of difficulties and hardships, and has not fulfilled their obligations as students to the school, as young people to the country, locality and family. Many young people live without ideals or goals, pursuing or advocating a pragmatic, selfish, indulgent, decadent lifestyle, disregarding discipline and the law. There are many reasons leading to this situation, but some of the basic reasons can be mentioned as follows: Due to the negative side of the market economy, negative aspects in society are becoming more and more common, many social evils tend to increase; corruption, bureaucracy, power abuse, moral degradation, and lifestyle among a part of cadres and party members who lack the awareness of self-cultivation, training and striving among a part of cadres and party members have not been discovered and prevented in time; due to peaceful evolution, especially peaceful evolution in the ideological and cultural fields of hostile forces, aiming to distort the past, blacken history, speak ill of the regime, disorient the youth, confuse, confuse, and doubt the regime. Because at times, the Youth Union has not really done a good job of educating its members in politics, ideology, and revolutionary ideals; its activities have not yet met the needs of its members, so it is difficult to gather and unite the youth. This is an easy loophole for the enemy to take advantage of, inciting a part of the youth to engage in illegal activities. Based on the requirements and tasks of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in the period of renovation, and on the reality of the socialist belief of our country's youth, political and ideological education and fostering socialist belief for the youth is a very important and urgent issue, with immediate and long-term value. To do well in this issue, in the coming time, the School Youth Union will focus on implementing well a number of the following directional measures: First, continue to pay attention to political and ideological education, innovate and improve the quality of education on Marxist-Leninist theory, Ho Chi Minh thought, the Party's guidelines and viewpoints, and the State's policies and laws for young people. This is the basis for contributing to building, forming and developing revolutionary ideals for young people; helping young people understand more clearly, fully and accurately the role of Marxist-Leninist theory, Ho Chi Minh thought, the Party's guidelines and viewpoints in building the country in a socialist direction, maintaining a firm stance against the plots, tricks and sabotage actions of the enemy against our country's revolution; thereby, urging young people to strive to study, practice, work, and be ready to contribute. Second, further enhance the awareness and responsibility of Party cells in caring for and nurturing youth in general, and building socialist beliefs in particular; continue to effectively implement Resolution 25 of the Party on youth. Third, build a truly strong School Youth Union in terms of politics, ideology, organization, expand the gathering and solidarity of union members and students; strengthen education, training, and support for union members and students in all aspects, especially building revolutionary beliefs, ideals, goals, and motivations, while helping them to be active, creative, and proactive in studying and doing scientific research, ready to train and strive for the revolutionary goals and ideals of the Party, for national independence and socialism, so that the Youth Union is truly a great socialist school for youth and a reliable reserve force of the Party. Fourth, continue to implement and organize meaningful revolutionary action movements among union members and students in order to propagate and educate revolutionary ideals, attract and gather union members and students, and create an environment for union members and students to practice and mature. Fifth, each union member and student, first of all union leaders and key union cadres, must strive to cultivate and train themselves to constantly improve their political qualities, intellectual qualities, ethics, revolutionary lifestyle, socialist beliefs, and working capacity.
Political ideology and ethical education, lifestyle towards building the style of students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a long-term process that requires the attention and synchronous coordination of Party cells, heads of departments, Party Committee, School Board and further, requires the joint efforts of both family and society to aim for a generation of young people who are both red and professional. That generation of young people has been, is and will be striving, dedicating themselves and trying their best to study and work for the country. As the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress clearly stated: “Do a good job of political, ideological, traditional, ideal, moral and lifestyle education; create conditions for studying, working, entertaining, and comprehensive physical and intellectual development for the young generation. Encourage and motivate young people to nurture great dreams and ambitions, be creative, and master modern science and technology. Form a class of outstanding young people in all fields, loyally and excellently continuing the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation,…”.
