There was a lot of laughter, singing and sweet sharing at the 2nd Anniversary Ceremony of the Stone Flower Club of the Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held on April 18, 2010.The anniversary ceremony is an occasion to summarize the 2-year operation of the Club, to honor members with good achievements in studying and working, and to exchange between teachers, students and students with disabilities. The idea of establishing a Club for disabled students was proposed by Do Hong Giang (K51 Psychology), with the aim of helping disabled students meet, share with each other, and have a representative organization to express their wishes in common activities. Hoa Da Club was established on April 18, 2008, currently has 45 members, and has a network of collaborators in all faculties. Hoa Da has close ties with the Hanoi City Disabled Students Club and a number of other agencies and social organizations. The Club has organized life skills exchanges with Tam Viet Company; attended the Music Night to Support Agent Orange Victims organized by the School's Student Association; organizing activities to discuss the learning issues of disabled students; organizing seminars on scientific research methods; exchanging skills and office administration; participating in the training course on Job Search Skills and Soft Skills of IDEA (Action Board for Inclusive Development); coordinating the organization of the exchange program "Circle of Friends" with the Hanoi Student Club, publishing a book recording the poetry and literary works of the members, donating books to establish the Hoa Da Library... In the 2008-2009 school year, Hoa Da was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of VNU for its outstanding achievements in the work of the Youth Union and the Youth Movement. Cheerful, confident and not hesitating to share their thoughts about life, the members of Hoa Da made the delegates attending the celebration even more surprised and loved - people who, despite their physical disabilities, have an admirable spirit of life. Those shares are very real, from self-consciousness, inferiority complex and even fear to very common worries in life. But more than anything, the disabled students expressed their desire to integrate themselves into the community, to work, to socialize, to live a useful and happy life. Present and witnessing the efforts of the Hoa Da members, Mr. Vu Thanh Tung (Chairman of the School's Veterans Association) was moved to call them "heroes in my eyes". Mr. Tung also told about the examples of overcoming difficulties of his wounded comrades and wished them to continue to try harder, have more joy and realize their dreams.
