Enhance Union - Association activities under the direction of the Party Committee - Faculty Board

The Youth Union - Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is the first unit in VNU to implement this discussion method, to resolve immediate difficulties in the organizational structure and activities of the Union - Association level.

Need for drastic changes in Youth Union activities

Speaking at the seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh shared: The activities of the Youth Union - Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the past school year have achieved many proud achievements, demonstrated through the results achieved in terms of awards such as being the leader in the Youth Union - Association activities of VNU, and certificates of merit from the Hanoi Youth Union. Many activities of the Youth Union - Association of the school are very exciting, meaningful and practical such as the blood donation movement of the Humanitarian Red Sun, the warm clothes for children program... But we should not be subjective with the results achieved. The Youth Union - Association of the University still needs to continue to exchange openly to have directions for development in the coming time, continue to promote the aspects that have been done, overcome the things that have not been done, so that the Youth Union - Association is an environment for students and youth of the University to practice.

In the coming time, the activities of the Youth Union and Association must ensure the factors of breadth, depth and quality. As a mass movement, it is necessary to expand and spread to all union members and young people to participate, not stopping at enthusiastic and excellent individuals. Besides, the activities of the Youth Union and Association must also avoid following the movement and achievements, but must go into depth, have good quality, aim at community values, and support training. Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh emphasized, "The activities of the Youth Union and Association must be oriented towards practical values, because only with practical values ​​can we attract and retain union members and young people."

Agreeing with the above opinion, comrade Truong Ngoc Kiem, Secretary of the VNU Youth Union, also shared, "We need to look straight at the problem. The activities of the Youth Union - University of Social Sciences and Humanities have been very good, but at the lower levels of the Union and the Youth Union Branches, there are very strong bases with high scores, but there are also weak points and ineffective activities.

We need to realize that, in addition to providing professional knowledge, the School should also create an environment for union members and young people to learn behavioral skills and relationships in life... These skills are often best absorbed through the environment of the Union - Association. Comrade Truong Ngoc Kiem gave an example: "The school trains a beautiful, polished product; the Youth Union - Student Association will carefully package that product, so that the product becomes more complete, more beautiful, and more satisfying the market's requirements".

Students in the 21st century have many social needs and other concerns, so the movement of union members and youth with the Union - Association has changed. In recent times, the Union - Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been very proactive and flexible in building many clubs. This is a new form of organizing and gathering students to participate. The characteristic of the clubs is that members with the same passion and interests are gathered together. However, this model also reveals weaknesses in the organization, which is greatly dependent on the leader. The leader has a role and responsibility for the activities to be effective, otherwise, the activities of the club will gradually decline.

Many suggestions for promoting the role of the Party Cell - Executive Committee

At the seminar, many opinions from representatives of the Party Committees - Boards of Directors of the Faculties in the school went straight to the issue of the role and position of the Party Committees - Boards of Directors in the activities of the Unions and Associations.

According to comrade Tran Duc Hoa (Faculty of Library Information), the Party Committee - Board of Directors of faculties need to "get involved" in the activities of the Youth Union - Student Association of their units. This involvement is reflected in six aspects: paying attention to policies; promoting resources of youth union members; promoting student ideas; giving opinions on the stages of the organization of the Union - Association; sponsoring, supporting in terms of funding, relationships and creating motivation to complete the stages of activities.

Comrade Tran Duc Hoa (Department of Information Technology) is sharing his unit's experience.

According to comrade Tran Duc Hoa, all the Youth Unions and Associations in the school receive attention in terms of policies, but the level of participation and involvement of the Party Committees and Boards of Directors in each Faculty is different. In some faculties, creativity in Youth Union and Association activities is left to the students, because of the belief that young people will have many ideas. Meanwhile, the teachers in the Party Committees and Boards of Directors of the Faculty are experienced people with rich knowledge, sometimes they will come up with very important ideas or can be unexpected suggestions for the Youth Union and Association activities of the unit.

Students' assets are youth, youthfulness, passion and enthusiasm. To be able to fully exploit that invaluable asset, it is necessary to have the support in terms of funding, finance and social relationships from the Party Committee - Faculty Board. Teachers are the ones who have gone before, have experience, have more years, have extensive social relationships, will be the ones who directly support financially or advise, help, connect and contact to help the Youth Union members find funding sources to sponsor activities, said comrade Tran Duc Hoa.

Comrade Dieu Linh (Faculty of Archives and Office Management) shared: With the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management, the Party Cell - Faculty Board always has general instructions, the activities of the Youth Union - Association must be associated with the unit's expertise. The young staff of the Faculty must affirm their position in scientific research activities, and students are the ability to penetrate the labor market. Instead of general instructions, the Party Cell - Faculty Board becomes a bridge for young staff and students to promote their abilities and approach opportunities.

Comrade Dieu Linh (on behalf of the Party Cell - Board of Directors of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​and International Relations) shared at the discussion.

The Party Committee - Faculty Board of Directors has designed the model of "several students following a young cadre, several young cadres following a senior cadre" which has brought about very specific results. Many activities of the Youth Union members of the Faculty of LTH & QTVP have been closely linked to the learning and professional environment. Last year, there were more than 20 student topics that had practical significance for the activities of related external units, resulting in the faculty's students being quickly accepted and given maximum conditions when going outside. The consensus, listening and sharing of the Party Committee - Faculty Board of Directors have created successes, which is the most core value that increases the strength of the Youth Union - Association activities, said comrade Linh.

Sharing his unit's experience, comrade Chi (Faculty of Management Science) said that, with the tradition of the Faculty of Management Science, the activities of the Youth Union - Association always receive close attention from the Party Committee - Faculty Board. The attention is shown in each specific action, not on paper documents. At the beginning of each school year, the Youth Union - Association of the Faculty of Management Science must have a draft plan of activities and assign specific tasks. From that plan, teachers and students will sit together to analyze, discuss and arrange activities, aiming for efficiency, avoiding overlap. When implementing, the Party Committee - Faculty Board will monitor, evaluate and summarize periodically. On average, they will work with students 1 to 2 times a month.

Regarding the activities of young cadres, comrade Do Thi Thuy Lan (Faculty of History) also made many important suggestions. Accordingly, the Party Committee of the Faculty Board of Directors needs to soon orient the expertise associated with all issues of cadres: when staying at school, participating in teaching, theses, dissertations, research directions, expertise. The Party Committee - Faculty Board of Directors should assign the Youth Union to carry out periodic scientific activities, orient expertise, support policies, spirit and material; build cadre strategies, registration mechanisms, inspection, evaluation and supervision.
