The British Embassy in Hanoi expressed its desire to coordinate with the University to organize a number of activities to celebrate this event, including a presentation by the British Ambassador to lecturers and students; a contest to learn about the UK for students of the University and universities nationwide, and a scientific conference with the participation of scholars from both countries. Vice President Pham Quang Minh welcomed the ideas from the British Embassy, ​​commented on the ideas put forward by the Counselor, and suggested that the two sides continue to discuss to realize those ideas in 2013. Vietnam and the UK established full diplomatic relations in 1973. On September 8, 2010, the two countries signed the Vietnam - UK Strategic Partnership Declaration. Currently, relations between the two countries are also strengthened within the framework of relations between two regional organizations, the European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
