Prof. Dr. Daniel WEISSBERG
Having held the position of Director of the Francophone University Agency for the Asia-Pacific region (AUF) in Hanoi, then Deputy Director in charge of International Relations of Toulouse Le Mirail University, Prof. Dr. Daniel WEISSBERG has made many contributions to the education and science of Vietnam and the whole region.
Prof. Dr. Daniel WEISSBERG has contributed to the development and implementation of a policy for training bilingual classes from grades 1 to 12 in the region. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Daniel WEISSBERG, the AUF Asia-Pacific Office has created a system of more than 60 new majors in French, of which more than 50 majors have been implemented in Vietnam. Particularly at VNU, the majors of Clinical Psychology (University of Social Sciences and Humanities), International Cooperation Law (Faculty of Law), Nuclear Physics, Chemistry (University of Natural Sciences) ... have provided modern knowledge and advanced training methods for learners.
At the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in addition to the French-Vietnamese bilingual major at the Bachelor's level in Clinical Psychology, the University also organizes training in 3 master's programs in Hotel Management, Child and Adolescent Development Psychology and Management of Public Policy and Enterprise (MAPE) with the support of Toulouse Le Mirail University and AUF. These are cooperative training programs with high efficiency in quality and sustainability in Vietnam.
As Director of AUF in Asia-Pacific, Prof. Dr. Daniel WEISSBERG has facilitated international cooperation activities between VNU in general, USSH in particular, and dozens of French-speaking universities around the world. Thanks to that, USSH has been actively and effectively participating in the Forum of Rectors of French-speaking Universities in Asia-Pacific. Many international cooperation programs have been signed and effectively implemented, including many international scientific conferences, typically:Dien Bien Phu - 50 years in review(2004);100 years of training and research in social sciences and humanities(2005);Creating socio-economic activities to serve local sustainable development – The case of the Northwest and Son La regions (2010)… Through the inter-regional research cooperation program between Midi – Pyrénées (France) and Son La province of Vietnam, Prof. Dr. Daniel Weissberg has promoted the search for many field research scholarships for Vietnamese students with a total value of hundreds of millions of VND.
Prof. Dr. Daniel WEISSBERG has been directly supervising and training 08 PhDs for Vietnam in general and for VNU in particular. All these theses are aimed at discovering, preserving and promoting the value of Vietnam's heritage, identity and landscape.
In the field of development research on Vietnam, Prof. Dr. Daniel Weissberg also left many marks when he was the head of the Research Program on Medium-Sized City Development in Ho Chi Minh City (1997-2000) and the Research Program on Coffee Production and Rural Development in the Central Highlands. Currently, Prof. Dr. Daniel WEISSBERG is a key member of the community development research group in Son La with the theme "Community cultural tourism house".
Prof. Odette LESCARRET
Prof. Dr. Odette LESCARRET - former President of the Council of Experts of the University of Nîmes, former Member of the Council of Psychology Experts of the University of Toulouse Le Mirail, the University of Montpellier III and the University of Nimes - is the founder and chair of the Master's Program in Child and Adolescent Developmental Psychology of the University of Toulouse le Mirail. She has made important contributions to the development of training, research and practice of clinical psychology in Vietnam. It can be said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU has become the first "school" training and research institution in Clinical Psychology in the Asia-Pacific region, thanks to the important contribution of Prof. Dr. Odette LESCARRET.
As the President of the Association for the Advancement of Education and Psychology in Southeast Asia (ADEPASE), Prof. Odette Lescarret has contributed to the formation of a child psychology that is characteristic of Vietnamese culture, while promoting the application of psychology practice in schools in Hanoi, and assisting the Vietnam Academy of Educational Management in developing and implementing the Master's Program inIntervention for those in need of special education, with financial support from the French Embassy.
In 1995, as the person in charge of the Practical Master's program in Child and Adolescent Psychology at Toulouse le Mirail University, President of the National Association of French Psychologists (ANOP), Prof. Dr. Odette Lescarret came to Vietnam at the proposal of child psychiatrist Nguyen Khac Vien to carry out cooperative activities in practicing human care and education with the National Institute for Educational Development Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU), University of Education...
In 1997, the Professor decided to choose the Faculty of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) to promote the signing of the first cooperation document. From here, a network of French-speaking universities in many countries around the world was established and actively participated in training and scientific research in the field of Clinical Psychology.
Since 1997, with the support of AUF, the French Embassy, Prof. Dr. Odette LESCARRET has worked with staff and lecturers of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) to carry out many cooperative activities in science and training to meet the needs of the school and Vietnam, with many famous international conferences such as:Children, Culture, Education”(2000); “Children, Youth and Assistance”(2003) and “Rural areas in transition” (2006). In addition, Professor Odette LESCARRET also actively proposed ideas and gradually built and successfully implemented the second year of the French-language Clinical Psychology training program at the university level (in 2001) and the Practical Master's Program in Child and Adolescent Developmental Psychology, which has been implemented since 2007.
As a great expert in the field of Developmental Psychology and Social Psychology, Prof. Dr. Odette Lescarret has been directly instructing and training many Masters and PhDs in Psychology for Vietnam in general and VNU in particular. The number of PhDs in Psychology whose theses she has instructed accounts for nearly half of the total number of PhDs in Psychology trained in France currently working in Vietnamese agencies.
