Speaking at the opening ceremony, Rector Professor Pham Quang Minh shared a lot of information about the innovations in the activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in recent years, especially in the field of training quality assurance.
Accordingly, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is the pioneer in the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to implement quality assurance activities early. The University identifies this as an important activity, helping to improve the quality of training and ensure the sustainable development of the University. Quality assessment helps universities know where they stand in the Vietnamese and world education system, find out their strengths and limitations, thereby improving weaknesses and promoting educational integration. Up to now, the University has implemented the assessment of 06 training programs according to AUN standards, and peer assessment of 24 training programs.
Quality assessment activities contribute to promoting innovations in all areas of activity, especially the spirit of service in administrative management, enhancing the research and teaching capacity of lecturers and the spirit of international integration.
The Faculty of International Studies was established in 1995 and is the pioneer in training in International Studies in Vietnam. Up to now, the Faculty has specialized training directions such as: European Studies, American Studies and most recently, International Development Studies - a research direction that no other university in Vietnam has grasped.
The growth of the International Studies sector has been recognized by society. Over the past 20 years, the Faculty has recruited 80-100 students with high input, along with about 30 undergraduates and 10 postgraduates. The Faculty is also a unit that receives funding from many international funds for its academic activities.
In the new development stage, the International Studies sector also faces many challenges and difficulties. The school hopes that the External Evaluation Team will conduct surveys and practical assessments to help point out the limitations in training this sector, thereby finding solutions to overcome them.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, on behalf of the External Evaluation Team, thanked the School for its trust. She affirmed that the team will work in an objective, transparent, and professional manner, with the participation of members who have many years of experience in the field of quality assessment. The team will work seriously to have valuable conclusions and recommendations for the development of the International Studies industry.
The conclusions of the Delegation will be based on information sources: the school's self-assessment report; supporting documents provided by the school; information from direct interviews with relevant parties; observations of facilities activities, class observations, student surveys... This information will be compared with the goals, mission and vision of the School to provide specific analysis and recommendations.
The external evaluation team will work at the School from April 24 to April 26, 2019.
