Achievements and milestones in a special term of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities

The 2017-2023 term of the Trade Union Executive Committee has created milestones in trade union activities in all aspects: politics, ideology, expertise, women's work, culture and sports... This is considered a term with many challenges due to objective fluctuations and also many opportunities to demonstrate the creativity, flexibility and enthusiasm of the brothers and sisters in 22 trade unions. Receiving close guidance from the Party Committee, the higher-level Trade Union, the support and facilitation of the Board of Directors, the School Trade Union has made breakthroughs in many activities, bringing sweet and impressive results to the trade union activities in this term compared to the previous term.
At the 30th Congress, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Trade Union passed a Resolution, which set out the key goal of focusing all resources to strongly innovate the content and methods of the trade union's operations towards better quality and efficiency. Based on the above goal, the Executive Committee of the University Trade Union has developed a roadmap for implementing the Congress Resolution, building a key work program of the University Trade Union for the entire term as well as an annual work plan. Therefore, despite the impact of objective difficulties, especially in the context of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, all targets set out in the Resolution have been successfully implemented and achieved results exceeding the norm. Notably, the social, cultural, women's work, professional activities, and activities to care for union members and students of the School have attracted the active participation of the unions of Faculties and Departments, thus achieving proud achievements, causing great resonance not only in the School but also spreading in society.

Warm and meaningful activities

First of all, regarding the activities of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, the School's Trade Union has done a good job of advising, consulting, and directly contributing ideas to the School's regulations and rules to ensure the interests of staff and lecturers and gradually improve the lives of union members. Not only participating in policy consulting, the School's Trade Union has truly been the most active organization in implementing activities directly related to the lives of the School's staff such as: condolences, joys, subsidies, visits, and gifts for union members in especially difficult circumstances... To do this well, the Trade Union not only relies on funding from the School and union fees, but also calls for contributions from all union members to the Humanity Fund to provide the most support to union members in need of assistance. It is also from this contribution that every year the School's Trade Union has organized many social, charitable, and gratitude activities. Every year, on the occasion of July 27, the Union and the School always pay attention to the families of war invalids and martyrs who are officers and employees in the School. Not only doing a good job of taking care of the material interests of union members in the School, the School Union has always paid attention to social charity work, serving the community such as organizing, visiting, and giving gifts to war invalids at war invalid nursing centers such as in Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Hanoi,... In addition to supporting and visiting union members, the School Union also has very meaningful activities such as providing maximum support to the Association of Former Teachers in its activities and wishing longevity to union members' parents when they turn 80, 85 and over 90 years old at the beginning of Spring.
In particular, during the Covid pandemic, the School's Trade Union has had many timely and practical activities to support union members in difficulty or who are sick with a total budget of up to 312 million VND. Not only supporting staff in the school, the School's Trade Union is the focal point for calling for sponsorship and coordinating with the Youth Union to visit, encourage and give gifts to students during the Covid pandemic to support students in difficult circumstances due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic; together with the trade unions of 5 universities (Hanoi University of Science and Technology; National Economics University, University of Construction, University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) to visit, encourage and give gifts to white-shirt soldiers on the front line against the epidemic through the Ministry of Health's Trade Union; visiting and supporting the Center for National Defense Education and Security, VNU, where Covid-19 is quarantined with an amount of up to hundreds of millions of VND; Giving gifts to support people through the Vietnam Fatherland Front and many other charitable social activities.

Women's work - strengths and highlights in Trade Union activities

One of the strengths of the School is women's work. Currently, female officials, civil servants and workers account for a fairly high proportion (over 60%) and are all qualified, responsible, dedicated and enthusiastic in participating in social activities in general and trade union activities in particular. The proportion of female officials as chairpersons or participants in State-level, National University-level and School-level topics is increasing in quantity and quality. Female officials participating in management work at all levels is also increasing and all clearly demonstrate their capacity and prestige. Not only good at state affairs, female union members are also very responsible in family affairs and raising children. Many female officials have children who have won high prizes in provincial and national competitions.
The extremely practical activities organized by the School Union have created great cohesion between union members in each unit in particular and between units in general. The activities are also a place for women to exchange, learn and share with each other in both professional work as well as in life, both school work and housework.
Although interrupted by the Covid pandemic, cultural and sports activities have also achieved outstanding achievements in the School's Trade Union activities in the past term. In addition to cultural and sports activities launched by the higher-level Trade Union, the School has also proactively created playgrounds through competitions in various forms to create connections between units. At the Trade Union singing competitions, the School has always been assessed as a potential group with outstanding performances and won first prize in 2018. Although the proportion of male staff is not high, sports activities are a strength of the School with Silver Medals in Men's Football in 2018, Cups and Gold Medals for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022.

  It can be seen that in the last term, the School Union Executive Committee has flexibly adjusted and supplemented the content of work depending on the specific conditions of each school year, thereby creating a new atmosphere in union activities, attracting union members to participate more actively in collective activities, thereby creating a close bond between union members to create a common strength contributing to the successful implementation of the School's political tasks. With the results achieved in the last term, the School Union has been continuously recognized as an excellent strong grassroots union, and has been awarded many awards such as: Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training; Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Education Trade Union; Emulation Flag of the Vietnam Education Trade Union; Emulation Flag of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The greatest reward of all is the trust and wholehearted support of all union members in the school for union activities. Each union member finds joy every time he participates and contributes to union activities. The remaining emotions after a difficult, challenging, and emotional term are the feelings, responsibilities, attachment, sharing, and trust between union members and the University's union organization. Hopefully, in the new term, we will continue to see more maturity, more quality, more achievements, and more support in the union activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
