So what is the secret to the successful arrival of the train carrying students of Cultural Studies? Let’s listen to the sharing from Dr. Nguyen Hoai Phuong (Head of Cultural Studies Department, Faculty of History) and the members of that first train.

Cultural Studies training program: Harmoniously combining theory and practice, enhancing experience

According to Dr. Nguyen Hoai Phuong: Compared to many other units that also train in the field of Culture, the Bachelor of Cultural Studies training program of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has more advantages to promote the value of basic sciences, harmoniously and effectively combine with applied sciences, meeting the needs of practical life. Students will learn about theories and methods of cultural research, applied in research, analysis, and interpretation of cultural elements (cuisine, costumes, housing, customs, religious beliefs, holidays, festivals...) to cultural issues in today's society (cultural contact and integration, heritage and heritage management, cultural industry, gender and sexuality issues...). Accordingly, students will learn about the origin and nature of cultural values; recognize and evaluate the changes of cultural values in the historical process, thereby suggesting the message: Culture does not distinguish between high and low, it is only different and respects the differences.
The Bachelor of Cultural Studies program equips students with theories and research methods that are systematic and methodical in order to study all areas of cultural life. In addition, the program also has many subjects with high applicability and updated development trends such as Media Culture, Tourism Culture, Cultural Industry, etc.
All subjects are arranged with suitable practical activities, flexible, diverse in organization: can go for about 1 day at locations in the inner city and suburbs of Hanoi, there are also 7 days and the longest is 10 days (for fourth year students). With subjects such as Cultural Foundations, Symbolic Culture, Cultural Institutions, Community with Cultural Heritage Activities/Practices, etc., practical activities usually take place in about 1 session, 1 day, but for the Cultural Practice subject, students go on a field trip from 4-7 days and the K65 Cultural Studies class had a very successful 7-day internship in Mai Chau, Hoa Binh province.
The longest and most memorable trip is the graduation internship, which is usually held for about 10 days. In class K65 Cultural Studies, we had 10 days to explore the landscape and cultural heritage in Hue City.
