VNU-USSH and its determination to renovate facilities to best serve teaching and learning

This content was highly agreed upon in the meeting on facilities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU (VNU-USSH) organized by the Administration - General Department.
Renovating and upgrading facilities is the determination and major policy of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors.
The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the school, with the participation of representatives of faculties/institutes, representatives of partners providing services to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh said that the renovation and upgrading of lecture halls and common utility areas is a major policy of the school with the determination to bring a modern working and learning environment while still preserving the historical and cultural beauty typical of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. With the support of Hanoi National University and the drastic direction of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors, a number of lecture halls, meeting rooms, common utility areas, high-speed wifi networks, etc. have been renovated and upgraded, serving well the teaching and working activities of lecturers and staff and the study and research of students, students, trainees, and PhD students. With the current development in the number of learners (11,000 people) and the number of staff and lecturers, the need to renovate and upgrade the school's modern facilities is necessary.
Associate Professor, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Principal of the school emphasized the determination of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors in renovating and upgrading facilities to best serve the activities of students, staff and lecturers.
Reporting on the general situation of using facilities at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, MSc. Nguyen Van Thuy - Head of Administration and General Department said that the school currently has 03 facilities used for training, research, and working places for staff and lecturers with more than 30,000 m2 (at 336 Nguyen Trai, B7 Bis Tran Dai Nghia and Hoa Lac). Many construction items and buildings of VNU-USSH are 70 years old, with historical and cultural values ​​preserved and continued from the University to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, such as the ABC building at 336 Nguyen Trai. Some items have not been upgraded due to administrative procedures not being resolved, such as the parking area. Currently, the facilities do not fully meet the learning and teaching needs of the school. The school's office equipment system (desktop computers, air conditioners, projectors, printers, photocopiers...) is currently being used at high capacity.

According to the report, with the determination of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors, the school has used the development fund effectively, investing heavily in a number of infrastructure items to best ensure the school's activities. High-speed wireless network covers the entire school, 400 car parking cards are issued to staff and lecturers; the service attitude of the parking lot has been improved; especially the renovation of the facade of Building A, bringing a new look to the school...
In 2024, the school will continue to renovate the appearance of buildings B and C; upgrade the water supply and drainage system; build a new toilet system for building G in a modern direction, paying attention to the practical needs of all students, staff and lecturers (expected to be done during the summer vacation to ensure that it does not affect school activities).
In Hoa Lac Urban Area, with an allocated area of ​​56.1 hectares, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will benefit from many projects of VNU such as the Creative Arts Center complex.
Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh shared his joy when the design for renovation and upgrading of some items was approved, such as: School gate, road leading to the school, green tree system, common square in front of hall G and E, thesis defense room... These are construction items with high cultural and historical value built to celebrate the 80th anniversary of tradition and 30th anniversary of the school being named University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
Vice Principal Lai Quoc Khanh emphasized that the school will invest economically, effectively, and with the best quality landscape to directly serve daily and hourly activities.

Appreciating the practicality of the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh - Director of the Center for Vietnamese Language and Culture expressed his joy that this was the first time the school organized a meeting to collect opinions from relevant units about the school's facilities. This demonstrated the determination of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors in innovating and upgrading the facilities system, meeting the expectations of staff, lecturers and students. This was also shared by representatives of functional departments, faculties/institutes at the meeting.

In order to best and most effectively meet the needs of repairing and adding facilities throughout the school, the Administration - General Department will continue to receive comments from units before April 20, 2024.
