Improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation with domestic partners
Cooperation between universities - Government - localities - enterprises is currently a popular and inevitable trend, which is of special interest to countries around the world. VNU has implemented many training, research and technology transfer activities for central and local agencies and enterprises, etc. With this model, VNU has promoted its multidisciplinary and multi-field strengths and implemented many useful activities for localities.
In recent years, a number of strategic partners of VNU have been established, such as: Central Theoretical Council; Central Propaganda Department; Central Economic Committee; Government Office; Ministry of Science and Technology; Hanoi City; Da Nang; Nghe An; Ninh Binh; Quang Ninh; Thai Binh; 14 provinces of the Northwest region; Hoa Lac High-Tech Park; Voice of Vietnam; Vietnam News Agency; National Oil and Gas Group; Viettel Group; Vingroup; BIDV Bank; FLC Group and the system of central hospitals.
Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission Nguyen Hong Son, Director of VNU-Hanoi Nguyen Kim Son and Director of VNU-HCM Huynh Thanh Dat signed a tripartite cooperation agreement.
Many cooperation activities have been effectively implemented, from organizing training courses, capacity building for staff, to cooperation activities in scientific research, technology transfer, applying research results into practice, contributing to solving problems that localities and businesses are facing. A number of training and research units and organizations have been established with the coordination between VNU and partners, such as the cooperation with Viettel Group to establish the Institute of Aerospace Technology; a number of laboratories cooperate with businesses, contributing to strengthening the connection between VNU and partners, thereby both developing resources and creating motivation for VNU to innovate and improve the quality of activities.
The Northwest Program Management Board signed a memorandum of understanding on transferring science and technology products of the Program to leaders of 14 localities in the Northwest region.

Promoting the advantages of the organizational model has allowed VNU to cooperate effectively and equally with large, prestigious universities in the world with similar organizational models. This is a favorable opportunity for VNU to quickly receive experience from the world to strongly promote innovation in university governance, creating a foundation to improve the quality of training, scientific research, and management level according to international standards; as well as develop and modernize facilities, attract financial resources, human resources, and technology transfer from international partners.
Through international integration, VNU has gradually implemented and incorporated international elements into high-quality training programs, advanced training programs, and talent training programs, ensuring timeliness and updating. Currently, VNU is implementing 28 international joint training programs, accounting for 15%; 14 partial or full training programs in English, accounting for 7.7%. In particular, Vietnam-Japan University, with its own characteristics, is implementing 08 high-quality master's training programs in the fields of advanced engineering technology and interdisciplinary science based on the original curriculum framework and training methods transferred from Japan. A number of major universities in the world have established cooperation offices at VNU to effectively implement cooperation activities.

International cooperation in scientific research has improved, with many international projects being implemented, including a number of large projects being initiated and implemented, typically:VIBE Project 2017.08“Capacity building for lecturers and managers of VNU according to the approach of innovative and entrepreneurial thinking (effectiveness-oriented thinking) to promote and enhance 21st century skills and nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation in students” in collaboration with the Institute of Creativity, University College Dublin, Ireland;European project on“Research on the history and digitization of Vietnamese stele documents” Cooperation with the European Research Council is carried out on a large scale (Vietnam, France and several other European countries);Project"Sustainable water system applying 4.0 technology to build sustainable communities in the Red River Delta and Phu Yen” funded by the Australian Government is being implemented to reduce arsenic in water and improve water quality to help people in aquaculture; UNDP funded project on “Building capacity for policy research, education and training to promote green development”; ODA project with Japan on“Developing research and in-house training in analytical science to enhance human resources for food safety and environmental quality control in Vietnam”; 03 FIRST projects; ERASMUS + programs with Spain, Germany, Austria, Romania and Italy.

In addition to bilateral cooperation activities, VNU also actively participates in international organizations, higher education associations and multilateral cooperation mechanisms. VNU has promoted its role as an active member of associations and university networks in the region and the world in participating in events, as well as participating in solving regional and global issues. During the entire term, more than 100 documents were signed, including many major partners who are prestigious universities in the world. As a long-standing university with academic prestige, VNU is always the destination of world-famous universities, educational and scientific organizations, scholars, politicians and social activists. Two-way short-term student exchange programs are promoted. On average, every year there are about 100 international scientific events and conferences organized at all levels, including many large events and conferences, with the participation of many domestic and international scientists, contributing to enhancing the prestige and reputation of VNU.

Strengthening internationalization indicators
Since 2016, VNU has participated in the SHARE Project's credit exchange program, a program that sponsors students in ASEAN and the EU to exchange credits for 1 semester or 6 months. The staff and student exchange program has been promoted. In the period 2015 - 2019, VNU sent 3,498 staff and 3,142 students to exchange academic knowledge, research, teaching, study and exchange abroad; at the same time, it attracted 2,569 experts and lecturers to research and teach; during this period, there was also an increase in the number of foreign students coming to VNU to study, with 6,441 students. These indicators are allexceed the target of the 5th Congress.
According to the rankings of Times Higher Education (THE), the indicators of teaching, scientific research, and international integration of VNU are at the top among the group of higher education institutions in Vietnam.
