Overview of the reception of representatives of Chonnam National University, Korea
Speaking at the reception, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong expressed his thanks for the attention of Chonnam University. In a busy working schedule, the delegation still took time to visit and work with the University. With the strength of being the leading university in the country in training and scientific research in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities, and being one of the key universities of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is ready to welcome and cooperate with universities in the region and the world. Vice President Dao Thanh Truong emphasized the hope that there will be effective cooperation between the two universities in many activities: exchange of lecturers, postgraduates, students; organizing seminars on cultural and historical issues of Vietnam and Korea; publishing documents for research and teaching,... At the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Korean Studies Department is the leading training and research unit specializing in Korean Studies in the country, attracting a large number of students and trainees from undergraduate to doctoral levels every year. Therefore, close and effective cooperation not only creates conditions to promote the strengths of the two units, creating conditions for students and trainees to have opportunities to study and exchange academically abroad, but also helps develop Korean Studies in Vietnam, expanding cultural exchange between the two countries.

Professor Jang Il-gun (Head of the Department of Languages and Literature, Chonnam University) expressed his joy when the University gave the delegation a very respectful and warm welcome, and at the same time admired the historical traditions and achievements that the University has achieved. Professor Jang Il-gun shared: Research and training on the language, culture, and history of Korea and countries in the region are areas that Chonnam University is very interested in and invested in. However, up to now, cooperation with universities in Vietnam has mainly stopped at student exchange. Therefore, after learning about the position and strengths of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, we really hope to promote cooperation with the University in the fields of academics and scientific research.

Professor Jo Kyung-sun (Director of the Center for Language Education, Chonnam National University, Korea) introduced the core activities of the Center and emphasized: we are ready to support students and trainees who want to study and research in the field of language with scholarship programs from the Government and Chonnam University. In addition, the Center also pays great attention to implementing research topics on language and culture.
Director of the Center for Language Education at Chonnam National University, Korea introduced the research projects that the Center has implemented and cooperation opportunities between the two units.
Representatives of the Faculty of Oriental Studies discussed some specific cooperation contents: opening long-term and short-term training programs; Korean language courses, learning about Korean culture; organizing Vietnamese cultural experience courses for international students, trainees, etc. In addition, the cooperation can be expanded to areas of Chinese studies, Japanese studies, etc. according to the training and scientific research directions of the Faculty. After the framework agreement between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Chonnam National University is signed, the Faculty of Oriental Studies will be responsible for being the focal point to develop and implement specific cooperation programs.
Concluding the meeting, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong emphasized: The University's Board of Directors fully supports and will proceed to sign a cooperation document with Chonnam National University and the Language Education Center on the contents of bilateral cooperation and both sides have strengths that the delegates have discussed. Immediately after today's meeting, representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will contact and discuss with representatives of Chonnam University to complete the content of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and send it to the leaders for signing as a basis for long-term and effective cooperation between the two units.
