Attending the ceremony were Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Mr. Michael Bergmann (Director of the Colombo Project); Ms. Dinh Thi Viet Anh (Manager of the Human Resources Development Program from the Australian Embassy), along with representatives of the Department of Cooperation and Development and the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language.


At the beginning of the discussion, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong gave an overview of the strengths of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In particular, in recent years, the number of international students coming to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to study long-term, short-term, and experiential courses in Vietnam has been increasing. With that experience, we believe we are ready and eager to expand cooperation with Australian universities and educational institutions, not only creating opportunities for students to exchange academic knowledge but also contributing to the development of friendly cooperative relations between the two countries.
Continuing the conversation, Mr. Michael Bergmann expressed his admiration for the long tradition and achievements of the USSH, and shared: The New Colombo Plan is a typical initiative of the Australian Government to support Australian students to study and intern in countries in the region, funding research activities in the Indian Ocean and Pacific region. After studying the strengths and experiences of the school, Mr. Michael Bergmann made specific proposals for cooperation between the two sides: student exchange, organizing scientific seminars, implementing research projects. Representatives of the Colombo Project were very interested in the content of the training program, the length of the courses and the ability to support foreign students who have, are and will study at the USSH.
Representatives of the School and the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language exchanged very specific information about the ability to receive future students through improving facilities and creating new courses, diverse in terms of time (long-term and short-term courses) and organizational forms to meet the requirements of students studying at many levels. At the same time, every year, many students of the School have the need to exchange, study and experience at universities in Australia to improve their academic expertise, improve their foreign language skills, etc.
Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam (Head of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language) discussed information about the number of foreign students studying at the Faculty as well as the contents of effective cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Project.
Concluding the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong expressed his thanks and emphasized that today's meeting is an important first step, providing direction for close and long-term cooperation between the two sides in the coming time.
