On July 27, 2012, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Principal - received Mr. Takeshi Hama - General Representative of AEON Group (Japan).Mr. Takeshi Hama briefly introduced AEON Group - Japan's leading retail group - present in Vietnam since 2009. In parallel with business investment activities, AEON is also interested in supporting Vietnamese students by awarding many scholarships to students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City and the University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Takeshi Hama said that he was impressed by the special marks of the University in education and training activities as well as the team of leading scientists with many famous names. Mr. Takeshi Hama said: "We wish to support the students of the University - those who are good at studying but have difficult circumstances - so that they can study with peace of mind in a good university environment like the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi". In response, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim expressed his gratitude for the good intentions that AEON Group has for the students of the University, saying that this will be great news for students who are good at studying but do not have enough financial conditions for studying. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim also said that this is also a beautiful expression of the Japanese business philosophy: that is, business not only meets economic goals but also ensures social security goals, promoting the development of society. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim also believes that with such a humane business philosophy, the group will soon establish a solid position in Vietnam. At the meeting, the two sides discussed specific issues related to the awarding of scholarships by AEON Group (Japan) to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the 2012-2013 school year. The two sides agreed to sign an official document between the two units, expected to award scholarships to 30 students each year, including 15 students majoring in Japanese Studies. Students receiving scholarships are 3rd and 4th year students who have overcome difficulties to achieve good academic results. The signing ceremony and awarding of the first AEON scholarship will take place at the beginning of the new school year.
