Attending the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hiep (Director of the Institute of Linguistics); Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Le Quang Thiem (Chairman of the Vietnam Linguistics Association), Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives of leaders of units, generations of leaders, teachers, students and trainees of the Faculty of Linguistics.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh (Head of Organization and Personnel Department) announced the decisions of the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to appoint: Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Cam Lan to the position of Head of the Faculty of Linguistics, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi My Hanh to the position of Deputy Head of the Faculty of Linguistics for the term 2019 - 2024.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh presented the appointment decision to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Cam Lan and took a photo with the new Board of Directors of the Faculty of Linguistics.
On behalf of the School's Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh emphasized the specialness of the ceremony when the Faculty of Linguistics announced the decision to appoint the Faculty Board of Directors right on the occasion of the anniversary of the sacred Vietnamese Teachers' Charter. The Principal acknowledged and praised the long-standing tradition of the Faculty over the past 60 years. He hopes that the new Faculty Board of Directors will have enough strength and confidence to continue the career of cultivating people, promoting and affirming the position of the Faculty of Linguistics in particular and the Vietnamese Linguistics industry in general.

On behalf of the new Executive Committee, Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Cam Lan expressed her gratitude for the guidance and support of the School Board; her deep gratitude to the previous Executive Committees of the Faculty and the companionship and sharing in scientific work of the agencies, organizations, and colleagues of the Faculty. The new Dean of the Faculty pledged to work with the next generation to make every effort to preserve and promote the achievements that generations of teachers and managers of the Faculty have worked hard to build. In the new term, the Faculty will continue to innovate teaching and training and strengthen internal solidarity.

Also at the ceremony, representatives of generations of veteran teachers, students and foreign students shared their emotions and excitement at being present and celebrating with the Faculty of Linguistics on such an important holiday. At the same time, they expressed their solidarity and wished the Faculty to develop more and more strongly and sustainably.
Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Hoang Trong Phien, on behalf of the veteran teachers of the Faculty of Linguistics, expressed his confidence in the Board of Directors for the 5th term (2019-2024), with people who have trained and matured from the very cradle of the Faculty's training, in continuing the tradition of research and training, keeping the fire of the teacher-student relationship burning.
Student Nguyen Thi Thu Hang (K63 Linguistics) recalls memories from when she first entered the Faculty of Linguistics and thanks the guidance and nurturing of the teachers in the Faculty.
Thai PhD student Patthida Bunchavalit (majoring in Vietnamese Language) expressed her gratitude to the teachers in the Faculty of Linguistics for helping foreign students have a cozy learning environment and forget the feeling of being strange in a foreign land.
The Faculty of Linguistics of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU was established in 1996 on the basis of the Linguistics Department of the Faculty of Philology, Hanoi National University. The Faculty is the first unit in Vietnam to train Linguistics as a separate science. The functions and tasks of the Faculty of Linguistics are to train high-quality human resources in linguistics, Vietnamese linguistics, Vietnamese language and culture, and languages of ethnic groups in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
Over the past 60 years, the Faculty of Linguistics has trained about 25,000 Vietnamese and international students, graduate students, researchers and interns. The rate of Linguistics students having jobs suitable to their training majors has always been over 90%. Many of the Vietnamese students, trainees and postgraduates have become senior leaders of the Party, State and social organizations of Vietnam after graduation. Many international students, graduate students and researchers have held and are holding key positions in state agencies, research and educational institutions of the host country. The Faculty also regularly sends lecturers to teach and conduct research exchanges at universities and research institutes in dozens of countries on all continents of the world.
The Faculty has had and is having effective scientific cooperation and training links with many international partners such as: University of Paris 7 (France), University of California - Los Angeles, Cornell University (USA), University of Toronto, University of Ottawa (Canada), Australian National University (Australia). The Faculty has co-organized many scientific conferences, creating a resonance in the academic community, such as: International Scientific Conference "Research, teaching Vietnamese - Chinese language and culture" (2007, 2009, 2011); International Scientific Conference "Teaching and researching linguistics in Vietnam: Theoretical and practical issues" (2011, 2013, 2016).
