On August 28, 2012, two students Cao Huy Hiep and Nguyen Ba Phuc (4th year students, Faculty of Political Science) received a special prize from the East Sea Research Support Program (Diplomatic Academy) for their research paper: "The issue of education on sovereignty over seas and islands for today's young generation".The research paper received attention and high appreciation from scientists and delegates at the conference after the award ceremony. This is one of 3 special prizes and 10 excellent prizes awarded in this contest. The two authors Cao Huy Hiep and Nguyen Ba Phuc conducted a sociological survey in Hanoi and Da Nang to find out the current situation with strengths and limitations in the awareness of Vietnamese youth about national sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. Based on data analysis and pointing out the causes of the above situation, the research paper proposes a number of solutions to further improve the awareness of Vietnamese youth about national sovereignty over the sea and islands. A very notable point in the article is the risk of gradually "losing" sovereignty right from the "consciousness" of the young generation - the future owners of the country. Sharing his thoughts after the ceremony, student Cao Huy Hiep said he was very happy to receive the award, and considered it an encouragement for his students in their studies and research activities. Hiep also shared that they will continue to pursue this research direction in the future. The East Sea Research Support Program was launched with the aim of promoting research to contribute to protecting Vietnam's sovereignty and interests in the East Sea for Vietnamese students, trainees, and researchers at home and abroad. There have been 60 research papers by more than 100 authors at home and abroad submitted to the program, as individuals or research groups. The articles have diverse and rich content on the topic of the East Sea from many different aspects such as: History, Law, International Relations, Marine Economy, National Security and Defense, Education, Maritime, Construction, Engineering... The award ceremony had the participation of former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan along with scholars, leading researchers nationwide on the East Sea and young award-winning authors.
