On September 4, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a conference for all staff members. Attending were Associate Professor, Dr. Phung Xuan Nha - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Director of VNU - and representatives of the functional departments of VNU.The conference listened to and discussed the Summary Report of the 2011-2012 school year and the plan and tasks for the 2012-2013 school year presented by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Principal. Accordingly, in the 2011-2012 school year, the University successfully completed and on schedule the adjustment of 22 undergraduate training programs and 53 graduate training programs according to output standards; built new training programs to meet the needs of learners and society; continued to invest effectively in learning materials; actively innovated teaching methods. The work of university training has had positive changes: the enrollment scale has increased, the training programs have been increasingly improved in the direction of connection, linkage, meeting social needs and having high integration. Scientific research activities have had good results: diversifying funding sources and the system of research topics, scientific activities; The average rate of scientific publication per capita is high. The school has 02 teachers receiving the Ho Chi Minh Prize, 03 teachers receiving the State Prize, 03 projects receiving the VNU-Hanoi Science Prize.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities was awarded the title of Excellent Labor Collective by VNU. Four teachers of the University were proposed to be awarded the title of Third-class Labor. In the 2012-2013 school year, the University focused on the following key tasks: - Continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of training; effectively implement 3 component projects under the NVCL; implement the project "Taking on the task of training PhD lecturers in Social Sciences and Humanities for universities and colleges" of the Ministry of Education and Training; complete output standards and adjust training programs to suit credit-based training. - Propose, develop and preside over the implementation of 01 State-level scientific program or 3-5 State-level scientific topics; build 3-5 strong research groups; focus on increasing the publication of research results in international scientific journals. - Building and developing a team of lecturers (especially those with doctoral degrees or higher and capable of teaching in English) and managers to gradually meet international standards. - Continuing to improve student management regulations in accordance with the credit training method; promoting student counseling and support in studying, career guidance, and job search after graduation. - Evaluating the Linguistics program according to AUN standards. - Issuing and applying management processes according to ISO standards in the management and operation activities of the School. - Continuing to launch emulation campaigns to effectively implement the campaign "Studying and working according to the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" and other campaigns. - Increasing financial resources; developing, upgrading and expanding facilities, IT-TT infrastructure; completing in-depth investment projects to effectively serve training and scientific research. Speaking at the Conference, Associate Professor Dr. Phung Xuan Nha - Vice President of VNU highly appreciated the results that the University has achieved in the past school year, affirming that Social Sciences and Humanities with a focus on human and social research are increasingly being promoted by the Party and the State. This is a great opportunity for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to grasp and continue to make important contributions to the development of this scientific field as well as the development of the country. The Permanent Vice President suggested that the University should proactively propose a number of national research programs on Social Sciences and Humanities; participate more strongly in interdisciplinary research programs of VNU as a key member; promote scientific research cooperation with international partners to enhance its position; further promote the role of research centers in connecting the design of state-level scientific topics; pay attention to connecting and creating connections between large topics and topics at smaller levels...

At the Conference, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities awarded collectives and individuals who received certificates of merit from the Vietnam Education Trade Union, the Minister of Education and Training, and the Director of VNU.
