The guests participating in the exchange with students were Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phung (Head of the Department of Archival Studies and Office Administration), Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Head of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs), Ms. Nguyen Thanh Van (lecturer of the University of Foreign Languages - VNU), former student Le Thi Huyen Trang (valedictorian of the Information - Library major in 2013), former student Pham Thi Huyen Trang (valedictorian of the Literature major in 2013).

The issues that new students are interested in are very diverse: the difference between the way of studying in high school and the way of studying at university, the methods of studying at university, how to prepare lessons before going to class, how to review effectively for exams, how to have the right attitude and motivation to study, effective methods of learning foreign languages, the relationship between studying and job opportunities...
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Phung shared: if high school education is “heavy” on knowledge transfer and the passivity of learners is high, then at university level, teachers are not only the ones who transfer knowledge, but also have to inspire, create passion for learning and research in students, and guide them to find new knowledge themselves. Students must study proactively and have a plan according to the goals they set.
Sharing the same view, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu believes that the learning method is an important difference between the way of learning in high school and university. Students must mainly study by themselves, combining studying at home, in class, in the library and through documents, books, and the Internet. The teachers and the team of academic advisors will accompany and guide students in making effective study plans.
In response to students' concerns about being "afraid" of studying subjects that are considered difficult,“dry” subjects like philosophy, history of thought, Party history…, Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu admitted that part of the reason could be that teachers have not really made the subjects attractive, have not been able to instill a passion for learning in students. And Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu also affirmed that these subjects themselves are attractive, and the important thing is that students know how to learn, know how to find many different approaches to knowledge in books and in life.
Talking about learning methods, the guests all expressed their opposition to the "waiting until the last minute" learning method. Valedictorian Pham Thi Huyen Trang believes that if you study every day in a systematic and “slow and steady” way, you can achieve good results. Lecturer Nguyen Thanh Van shares many experiences to learn foreign languages effectively, which is to focus on practical skills.Every day, know how to determine the specific purpose of learning a foreign language in each stage, avoid rote learning and rambling learning.
Sympathizing with students' concerns about employment, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Thi Phung still gave advice: young people should have a broader vision to see their role and responsibility - young people with knowledge, intelligence and enthusiasm - in contributing to changing society and the world for the better, bringing happiness not only to themselves but also to the whole community.
