At the seminar, delegates attending the 2nd Vietnam-Germany Media Dialogue provided students with information about the environment, the correlation between mass media and online network usage in their countries; new challenges for careers and changes in the professional environment through the use of online networks; online advertising and economic efficiency; practical career experience and establishing new professional relationships.
One of the topics that most interested speakers and students was the difficulties that the press and media industry is facing in the context of the rapid development of the Internet and the current difficult global economic and social situation, and what are the solutions to help newspapers survive and retain their readers. Discussing this issue, veteran journalists said that in the future, reporters and media workers need to have more diverse skills. If reporters in the past only worked with traditional media such as paper and pen, recording, reporters today must work with smartphones, social networks and have great interaction with news sources and readers. The media also tends to combine multimedia from newspapers, online newspapers to television and radio to create a comprehensive information picture that best meets the needs of readers. In addition, another lesson shared by those in the profession is that in order to develop in the current complex and competitive context, newsrooms must invest more heavily in capacity, produce articles and newspapers with quality and unique identity to gain a foothold in the hearts of readers.
Some other topics of discussion that students are interested in include economic journalism, how journalists build blog communities, memorable experiences of journalism, etc.
