Pham Duc Thinh(nPolitical Science): Must have iron discipline!
With studying and doing scientific research, I only have one experience: know how to set appropriate goals and have a strong spirit of discipline with yourself. Setting goals is extremely important for students. For example, if you set a goal to be excellent this semester, you must set a task to study well, achieve at least B+ in all subjects, determine your right path, as Zhuge Liang said, it is to determine the shortest path to success and victory. Not only that, to be able to achieve your goals, you need to have a high spirit of discipline, be strict with yourself and seriously carry out what you set out to do, as Mr. Tran Bach Hieu - my instructor once said: "Be easy on yourself once, difficulties will come a hundred times in the future".
The future is always uncertain, so I am not sure what I will do and where I will be when I graduate in a year. However, my family is currently supporting me to continue my master's degree and I am gradually completing my application to apply for graduate school. In addition, with the knowledge of Political Science that I have accumulated over 4 years of university, I really want to become a young specialist, serving in positions related to the country's political work.
Nguyen Phuong Hoa(nLinguistics): Find out what you really love!
I am a student majoring in Mathematics, not good at social subjects, so I never thought I would study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. But in the end, I spent all 4 years (actually 5 years, because I also studied for a double degree) of my student life here. And that was the wisest decision of my life so far.
I really admire those who have clearly defined their goals and direction early on and confidently strive to follow the chosen path. I used to have a period of uncertainty about the future. Especially when I failed the university entrance exam on the first try, and could not get into the school my family had planned. I had applied to another school but was always skeptical and felt it was not suitable.
It took me a year to find what I wanted, a year that didn’t seem long, but when I fell into a state of confusion and uncertainty, I realized how long and endless it was. During that time, I read the book “I am a donkey” by Nguyen Phuong Mai. She also failed the university entrance exam, but then she found her passion and just kept moving forward. That book inspired me a lot. When I got through that time, I entered the University of Social Sciences and Humanities like a “fish in water”, freely floundering there, despite many people trying to stop me, saying: “That school is so good, why did you drop it, go to Humanities and become unemployed?”, “You’ve studied Mathematics for ten years, can you survive in Humanities and become unemployed?”... And in the end, I still survived, and I wasn’t unemployed. I agree with the saying: “As long as you can do what you love, nothing is impossible.”
Do Phuong Anh(ncliffLiteratureCLC): I had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a foreign learning environment.
Receiving a scholarship and studying abroad for 6 months in Indonesia was the most memorable experience during my 4 years of university. I met international friends and had valuable learning experiences in a foreign environment. Living independently abroad taught me many lessons despite the difficulties in foreign languages and living environment.
After each trip in particular and after the exchange study process in general, I learned how to adapt to a new life, create connections with new friends and learn how to behave and handle situations in an international environment, making me mature and stronger. Being an exchange student is one of my memorable opportunities and milestones.
And now, after returning to Vietnam, I once again hope and wish that from now on, you will make the most of your abilities to improve your knowledge and abilities to be ready to register for scholarship programs in the coming semesters. Don’t waste your opportunity, win the scholarships and experience for yourself the values they bring.
