Promote cooperation with Chinese universities

In order to implement the plan to strengthen international training cooperation and promote the international enrollment activities of the University, from July 9-14, 2018, Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) led a delegation of the University's staff to visit and work with partner universities in the two provinces of Guangxi and Yunnan (China).

Launching the 3rd Center for Vietnamese Language and Culture Research in China

On July 10, 2018, the delegation had a working session with the President, Vice President and representatives of relevant units of Guangxi University of Science and Technology. Here, the leaders of the two schools officially launched the Center for Vietnamese Language and Culture Research. This is the third research and academic exchange center of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in China (after Guangxi Normal University and Beijing Foreign Studies University) and the fifth research center abroad (including Kaohsiung University and Donghua University, Taiwan).

     Leaders of the two schools and representatives of the units took souvenir photos at the opening ceremony of the Center for Vietnamese Language and Culture Research.

At the meeting, Vice President Hoang Anh Tuan introduced the history and development process of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and emphasized the opportunities for cooperation in student and lecturer exchanges and scientific research cooperation between the two schools in the future. President Ly Tu Man of Guangxi University of Science and Technology highly appreciated the two schools' co-establishment of the Center for Vietnamese Language and Culture Research and hoped to implement many cooperation programs on language, culture and society to promote the relationship between the two schools and serve the development of the two countries.

Principal Ly Tu Man also proposed that the two schools jointly organize an international scientific conference on the two countries' experiences in studying Marxism-Leninism in the first half of 2019; develop a plan to send students majoring in Social Work to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to study for a semester; and implement joint scientific research topics.

Also during this time, nearly 100 students and lecturers from the Faculty of Linguistics and the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, who were on an internship and exchange trip at Guangxi University of Science and Technology (from July 5 to 16, 2018), participated in and witnessed the establishment ceremony of the Center for Vietnamese Language and Culture.

           Representatives of the leaders and lecturers of the two schools took souvenir photos with nearly 100 students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities who are participating in internships and exchanges at Guangxi University of Science and Technology.

Cooperation to improve Vietnamese language training program at Guangxi University for Nationalities

On July 11, 2018, the delegation of the University continued to work at Guangxi University for Nationalities. Vice President Cui Xiaolin and leaders of the Southeast Asia Academy, the International Education Academy, and the International Cooperation Department welcomed the delegation.

Vice President Thôi Hiểu Lân recalled the friendly cooperative relationship between the two schools since 2003. Over the past 15 years of cooperation, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has annually received 30-50 students majoring in Vietnamese language to study.

At the meeting, the leaders of the two schools discussed improving the Vietnamese language teaching program for students and improving the qualifications of Vietnamese language teachers. The two schools continued to help each other in doctoral training, discussed the possibility of organizing scientific research seminars on Vietnamese language and culture, research seminars on the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of China, etc.

On July 12, the delegation continued their working trip to Guangxi International Trade and Technical College and met with Vice President Le Hong Mi and leaders of the International Cooperation Department, Faculty of Foreign Languages. At the meeting, leaders of the two schools introduced the development history of both sides and discussed the training of students majoring in Vietnamese.

Vice President Hoang Anh Tuan welcomed the Vietnamese language students of the Academy who will study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in August this year. The leaders of the two schools hope that through the Vietnamese language training program, the two schools will open up many opportunities for cooperation in the future.

Proposal for short-term exchange program for students majoring in English and French, Guangxi University of Foreign Languages

On July 12, the delegation visited and worked with Guangxi Foreign Languages ​​Academy. Vice President of Guangxi Foreign Languages ​​Academy - Ms. Tong A Phi and representatives of the European - American Faculty, Oriental Language Faculty, Continuing Education Faculty and International Cooperation Department welcomed the delegation.

The leaders of the two schools discussed the possibility of continuing to implement the training cooperation program to send Vietnamese language major students to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as the possibility of organizing short-term exchange programs of 1-2 weeks for English and French language major students of the Academy. The leaders of the Academy also hope that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will organize a group of students to exchange and intern for 2 weeks at the Guangxi Foreign Languages ​​Academy.

Yunnan University leaders support promoting cooperation between the two schools

On July 13, the delegation continued their working trip to Yunnan University, the number 1 university in Yunnan and Guangxi provinces. The delegation was welcomed by the leaders of the Foreign Language Academy - Prof. Lac Hong and Head of the Vietnamese Language Department - Ms. Truong Thieu Cuc, along with lecturers of the Linguistics Department.

At the meeting, Vice President Hoang Anh Tuan hoped that the two sides would implement cooperation programs for student and lecturer exchanges and research cooperation. The leaders of the Foreign Language Academy, Yunnan University affirmed that they will continue to support cooperation programs between the two schools as well as the Foreign Language Academy and the Vietnamese Language Department of the University with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Linguistics Department. In addition, the two sides will seek research topics, organize book translation into Chinese...

Yunnan Nationalities University proposes University of Social Sciences and Humanities to join Lancang-Mekong Universities Association

On the afternoon of July 13, the delegation continued their working trip to Yunnan Nationalities University. Vice President of Yunnan Nationalities University - Prof. Li Bingze, Secretary of the Southeast Asian Languages ​​Institute, Secretary of the Lancang-Mekong Vocational Institute, International Cooperation Department and representatives of Vietnamese language students attended the meeting.

Vice Principal Ly Binh Trach affirmed that the two sides will continue to cooperate in training students majoring in Vietnamese, as well as propose that the two schools coordinate to organize a Vietnamese proficiency test at Yunnan Nationalities University.

In particular, Prof. Ly Binh Trach briefly introduced the Lancang-Mekong Academy, which was newly established in 2017 and specializes in implementing training cooperation programs between universities of 6 countries (including: China, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam). He also proposed that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities join the Lancang-Mekong University Association (currently, 28 Chinese universities have joined the Association, the remaining Southeast Asian countries each select only two universities).

Vice President Hoang Anh Tuan thanked the leaders of Yunnan Nationalities University for their interest and trust in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as well as continuing to send students to Hanoi to study Vietnamese. With the proposals from Yunnan Nationalities University, Vice President Hoang Anh Tuan will consult with the Principal and the University's Board of Directors and will respond as soon as possible.
