Receiving a delegation from Zacatecas University (Mexico)

At the reception, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh sent his greetings to the first guests from Mexico to visit the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The President introduced the history of the establishment and development of the University, with its predecessor being the University of General Sciences, one of the first universities established after Vietnam gained independence in 1945. The University has trained many excellent politicians and managers, along with more than 10 foreign ambassadors to Vietnam. The University hopes to welcome more lecturers and students from Mexico to work and study in the future.

In response, Dr. Antonio Guzmán Fernández said that he highly appreciated the visit and work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Fernández informed that there are currently 6 Vietnamese students studying at the University of Zacatecas. He is willing to grant short-term scholarships to 5 students in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities to study Spanish and a 1-year bachelor's program at the University of Zacatecas. In addition, he expressed his intention to establish a Department of Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Studies at the University of Zacatecas. He also invited Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh and other staff and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to visit and organize a workshop at the University of Zacatecas as soon as possible.

In response to Dr. Fernández’s goodwill and determination to promote cooperation between the two schools as well as the Vietnam-Mexico relationship, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh accepted to visit Mexico in the first quarter of 2019. The two schools will organize a conference on topics of common interest. The President said that the two schools share many valuable similarities, and hopes that the relationship between the two sides will be maintained and strengthened in the coming time.

The Autonomous University of Zacateras was founded in 1959 and is located in Zacatecas, Mexico. It is one of the top 20 universities in Mexico. The university's fields of study and research are Arts and Culture; Basic Sciences; Health Sciences; Engineering; Humanities and Education; Social, Economic and Administrative Sciences; Agricultural Sciences.
