Promoting cooperation with the Swedish Council for Higher Education

At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh introduced the research and training activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as the leading university in Vietnam in research and training in social sciences. With the goal of becoming a research university, the University has continuously strengthened scientific research activities in terms of both quantity and quality of works, and prioritized expanding international research cooperation. In 2013, 21 scientific articles by staff and lecturers of the University were published in foreign journals, including 5 articles in specialized journals in the ISI and SCOPUS journal categories, etc.

With the Swedish Council for Higher Education, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh hopes to promote cooperation through activities of sponsoring short-term and long-term courses in English, as well as organizing international seminars, exchanging lecturers and students to improve the quality of research and teaching. According to him, the activities of exchanging lecturers and students between the two sides are both opportunities to improve professional knowledge and conditions to improve foreign language skills for staff. Ms. Anna Lindeberg said that the Council is ready to support the University in organizing and sponsoring activities, and believes that enhancing foreign language skills is one of the top cooperation goals between the Council and the University.

In the immediate future, the Swedish side will help the University of Social Sciences and Humanities establish training and exchange programs in Political Science between students of the University and Stockholm University (Sweden). Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the above proposal and considered it a useful initiative in expanding research and training in the field of Political Science at the University.
