What particularly attracts readers to this book is the rich and vivid illustrations. With the advantage of being the world's largest museum and research institute complex, including dozens of member museums, research institutes and branches in many places around the world, the Smithsonian Institution has gathered a huge source of documents and artifacts to serve the book. Large-size color pictures, detailed maps and impressive charts have contributed to creating an attractive and vivid appearance for historical events that are often dry and complicated.

With the desire to better reach the interests of domestic readers, the translation and editing team has added a number of typical historical events of Vietnam to the Vietnamese edition. These events are carefully selected, adhering to the general spirit of the original to ensure consistency with the whole. Hopefully, through this, readers will have a comparative view of the level of development and progress of Vietnamese history compared to other countries in the region and the world.

As people who have been in contact with the book for a long time and have actually used the book's content in teaching and research, we are very happy and feel honored to be invited to participate in editing and writing the introduction for this Vietnamese edition. Hereby, we would like to thank Dong A Company, the team of translators, editors... for their great efforts and creating conditions for the book to be introduced to readers soon. Despite many efforts, due to the volume and wide range of knowledge of the book and the complexity of the translation, it is certain that the translation still has certain shortcomings. Therefore, we look forward to receiving comments from readers near and far so that the book will be more complete in future editions.reprint later.

We would like to respectfully introduce to our readers!
