Anthropology is a field of study with a long history in the world, and is now a widely known and applied science in developed Western countries. However, in Vietnam, anthropology is still a "young" science and is relatively unfamiliar to the general public. Although anthropology has been taught at university level in Vietnam for more than ten years, on the basis of inheriting and developing the field of Ethnology, "What is Anthropology," "What does Anthropology study" and "What do Anthropologists do" are still big and constant questions for students, parents, employers and society in general.

Contributing to answering the above questions, the book “Anthropology – The Science of Cultural Differences” by author Lam Minh Chau will provide readers with answers to frequently asked questions about anthropology such as “What is anthropology?”, “Where can anthropological knowledge be applied?”, “What jobs can an anthropology student do after graduation and why can they take on those jobs?”

With a simple and easy-to-understand expression, the author not only helps readers clarify the above issues, but also provides us with a new perspective on anthropology. Accordingly, while the majority of social sciences and humanities aim to find out where human cultures around the world are similar and what they have in common, the starting point of anthropology is to find out where human cultures around the world are different. In other words, anthropology is one of the rare sciences whose main concern is to explain the cultural differences between people in one place and people in other places in the world.
