The Dr Goh Keng Swee Scholarship (GKS) is a private scholarship administered by the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS). The Dr GKS Scholarship Fund was established by the Singapore financial community to pay tribute to former Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Dr Goh Keng Swee.
Condition
The DR GKS Scholarship is awarded to outstanding individuals from 15 economies in the Asia Pacific region including Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, People's Republic of China, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, to pursue undergraduate studies at universities in Singapore such as the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
Candidates must meet the following conditions:
Meet the admission requirements of the above-mentioned Singapore universities;
Apply for admission to the above universities yourself. Most courses will be considered for scholarships (except for special courses such as Medicine). Applicants must follow the instructions set by Singapore universities for foreign students;
Actively participate in extracurricular activities, have good academic performance and demonstrate leadership abilities;
Have an SAT certificate or are preparing to take this certificate (see more information about registering for the SAT certificate on the College Board website).
Scholarship terms and conditions:
- The Dr GKS Scholarship supports up to 4 years of undergraduate study (including Honours Bachelor's degree), for the following:
- Tuition and other mandatory fees;
- Airfare to Singapore at the start of the course and airfare back home after graduation;
- Living allowance of S$6,500/year;
- Residential allowance;
- Initial accommodation settlement allowance of S$200.
The scholarship will be reviewed annually based on the academic performance of the scholarship recipient.
