The Fulbright Vietnamese Student Program is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program that seeks to identify and nominate young Vietnamese researchers to pursue Master’s degrees at U.S. universities. Approximately 20 full scholarships are awarded each year. Since 1992, more than 600 Vietnamese students have been selected to participate in the Program.
What does the Fulbright Scholarship cover? Selected candidates will receive a full scholarship that covers tuition and fees, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare to the United States, and health insurance for a Master’s degree program beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year. Successful candidates will also receive support from the Fulbright Program during their application to U.S. universities.
Conditions for application:Candidates must:
- Be a Vietnamese citizen (cannot have dual citizenship).
- Have at least a bachelor's degree.
- Have at least 2 years of post-graduation work experience at the time of application.
- Have a TOEFL iBT foreign language certificate with a minimum score of 79, IELTS with a minimum score of 6.5 or PTE-Academic with a minimum score of 58.
The following cases will not be considered:
- The candidate has received a Fulbright scholarship.
- Applicants are living or studying in the United States.
- Applicants must have received a bachelor's or master's degree from a US university within the previous 3 years.
- Vietnamese nationals working for the US Department of State and their direct dependents are not eligible to receive this scholarship during their employment and within one year after termination of their employment contract.
- Applicants who have received any government scholarship for postgraduate study abroad within the past five years or have received any fully funded scholarship for postgraduate study abroad.
