The 29th School Union Congress was a great success.

On March 23-24, 2012, the 29th Congress of the School's Trade Union for the 2012-2014 term was successfully held with the participation of 118 delegates representing 460 union members of the entire School.Attending the congress were Associate Professor Dr. Tran Cong Phong - Chairman of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Kim Dinh - Chairman of the VNU Trade Union, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - President of the University, representatives of the Trade Unions of universities in Hanoi: University of Science, University of Technology, University of Construction, National Economics University... The 29th Congress of the University Trade Union aims to evaluate the implementation of the resolution of the 28th Congress for the 2009 - 2012 term, set out the direction of activities for the 2012 - 2014 term and elect the Executive Committee of the University Trade Union for the new term. The conference listened to the report on the results of the internal session held on March 23, 2012; the report of the Executive Committee of the University Trade Union for the 2009 - 2012 term and the direction of activities for the 2012 - 2014 term; Review report of the University's Trade Union Executive Committee for the 2009-2012 term; report on comments on the Draft Documents of the 4th Congress of the VNU Trade Union. The reports all affirmed that the Trade Union in the past term has achieved quite comprehensive results. Political and ideological work has been maintained. Leaders and trade union members have a deeper awareness of the role and position of the University in the new development stage. The Trade Union has actively participated in building the Internal Spending Regulations, ensuring the publicity of policies, rewards, penalties, protecting the legitimate and legal interests of workers... With those results, in the past term, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been awarded many noble awards: Second-class Labor Medal, Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (2010, 2011) and many other awards.

In addition, the report also pointed out some limitations in the past term: the trade unions of the units still lacked trade union activities demonstrating coordination with the government in professional work; the trade unions of some units were not proactive and timely in expressing opinions to the Party Committee on building a team of trade union cadres; the work of evaluating emulation and commendation of some trade unions of the units was still slow. The direction and tasks of the trade union work in the XXIX term with the slogan of action: "Solidarity - Democracy - Creativity - Efficiency". And the key tasks that need to be well implemented are:

• Continue to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of political and ideological education and propaganda work, promote emulation movements, build a team of officials and civil servants with strong political stance and good professional skills, meeting the requirements of the School's development in the new development stage.
• Encourage union members to actively participate in training and fostering to improve professional qualifications and skills; promote the implementation of strategic tasks; complete scientific research topics on time.
• Perform well the representative function, care for the lives, protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members, promote social and charitable activities.
• Focus on women's work and promote cultural and sports activities
• Continue to innovate the content and methods of trade union activities, build strong trade unions at all levels and participate in Party building.

Speaking at the congress, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Cong Phong - Chairman of the Vietnam Education Trade Union - highly appreciated the performance of the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Chairman of the Vietnam Education Trade Union pointed out the tasks that the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities needs to focus on implementing well in the coming term: further strengthening the representative role of the trade union organization; continuing to have effective forms and contents to implement the emulation movement of the industry; having solutions to improve the material and spiritual life of trade union members; innovating the methods of trade union activities to make trade union activities more effective...

On behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh congratulated and commended the achievements of the Trade Union and the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University in the past term. The Principal believes that the Trade Union will continue to make efforts, be proactive and creative, together with the Board of Directors and other mass organizations in the University, to encourage all staff and students to exploit and promote all resources and strengths to build and develop the University. The 29th Congress of the University Trade Union was a great success: the Executive Committee of the Trade Union for the 2012-2014 term, consisting of 15 comrades, was elected, and 26 delegates were elected to attend the 4th Congress of the Trade Union of VNU. 100% of the delegates voted to approve the Draft Resolution of the Congress.
