The Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) was separated from the Trade Union of the Hanoi National University and officially became a grassroots trade union under the Trade Union of the Hanoi National University since 1995. After 17 years of operation and 6 Congresses, the Trade Union of the University has been increasingly organized, operates more and more effectively and the number of union members is increasing. At present, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has 460 union members, operating in 19 departmental trade unions, including 05 professors, 70 associate professors, 140 doctors and doctors of science. During its operation, the School's Trade Union has always received the attention and direction of the Vietnam Education Trade Union and the Hanoi National University Trade Union, under the direct leadership of the School's Party Committee and the close coordination of the Board of Directors and other political and social organizations, creating favorable conditions for the Trade Union to organize activities effectively and practically, contributing to the successful implementation of the School's political tasks. In the context of the income of the school staff in particular and the education sector in general still facing many difficulties, especially young staff and low-income service subjects, the School's Trade Union Executive Board identifies the important task of paying attention to the material and spiritual life of staff and civil servants so that they can feel more secure, enthusiastic and responsible in their work. One thing that is easy to see at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is that in recent years, the School's Trade Union Executive Board has coordinated with the Board of Directors to balance the budget to have conditions to increase offices and equipment, ensuring that the research, teaching and learning of teachers and students are of increasingly higher quality. Thanks to that, the working and teaching environment of staff and civil servants; the learning environment and practice skills training of students have been significantly improved. Along with improving working conditions, the Trade Union always cares about protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of staff and civil servants. The Union closely coordinates with the School in inspecting and supervising to ensure the correct, sufficient, timely and fair implementation of regimes and policies on wages, bonuses, sick pay, insurance regimes, and teaching allowances. The additional income is implemented more and more closely, more appropriately with the contribution of each person according to each working position. In addition, the Union also cares about and creates conditions in terms of mechanisms, time and funding for cadres and civil servants to be trained and improved in political, professional and technical qualifications. Activities to care for the material life of union members are also implemented by the Union in many forms such as: organizing gift giving on holidays, visiting and providing timely support when cadres, civil servants of the unit or relatives encounter difficulties in life. In addition to coordinating with the authorities at the same level to promptly and accurately resolve regimes and policies for all union members, the implementation of political and ideological work is also emphasized. With many different forms of organization, the Union has aroused in union members pride in a school with a rich tradition, in the teaching profession and in a heroic country. Many emulation movements have been launched such as fighting against the disease of achievements in education; the movement "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh"; innovation in university education management in the period 2010 - 2012; "Good at school work - Good at housework" among female cadres; the movement to build a cultural life at the grassroots level, to build a cultural family of teachers. Or organizing "Returning to the source" activities such as visiting heroic martyrs at Truong Son Cemetery, Road 9, Quang Tri Citadel; visiting localities where cadres and students evacuated during the years of fighting against the US to save the country. In particular, the activities of the Union have always paid attention to women's work. The Union has coordinated with the school to fully and promptly implement policies for female cadres; Take care of improving material life, create all conditions for women to study and improve their professional qualifications and skills. Organize and mobilize cadres and civil servants to have annual health check-ups; cultural and sports activities such as cooking competitions, football exchanges, art festivals... on major holidays of the year; encourage and create conditions for departmental unions to organize tours for cadres during summer and holidays to create a comfortable working atmosphere, while supplementing practical knowledge for cadres and civil servants. Through actual activities, it can be seen that in order to effectively perform the function of ensuring the rights and interests of cadres and civil servants, the Trade Union and trade union cadres need to pay attention to doing well the following tasks: - Thoroughly implement the work plan set out by the Executive Committee in the Congresses. - Identify taking care of the lives of union members as one of the top tasks of union work, making each union member consider the Union collective as their second home. Union officials must truly be comrades, colleagues, and close friends who understand the circumstances and thoughts of their comrades. - Need to advise and coordinate closely with the school in assigning work, ensuring the right person for the right job, creating favorable conditions for union members to both complete their professional tasks at school well and at the same time have the conditions to take care of family affairs so that they can work with peace of mind and do their job well; advise the school in promptly resolving policies such as: sickness, maternity and other policies to ensure fairness in labor and encourage union members to work actively. - Coordinate well between the Union Executive Committee and the Board of Directors in implementing the activities of the Union in particular and of the School in general. Thanks to the good implementation of the work of caring for the lives, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of cadres and civil servants, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in recent years has been actively contributing to stabilizing the ideology, helping cadres and civil servants feel secure in their work, increasingly attached to the University, thereby wholeheartedly dedicating themselves to the cause of building, developing, and enhancing the position of the University and the education and training cause of the country.
