University of Social Sciences and Humanities: Successfully ended the 77-day peak competition period

From March 4 to May 19, 2008, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities launched a peak emulation campaign "77 days of emulation to achieve achievements to welcome Youth Month, towards the 118th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday”. With many rich, exciting and widespread activities among all union members and student members, this emulation campaign has recorded many good results, completing the set goals. In particular, the emulation campaign has created a strong qualitative change in the content of activities, contributing to raising the sense of responsibility of union members and student members in building a cultural environment at school, building a strong Union - Association organization.

On political and ideological education for union members, the Union branches and affiliated branches have organized to disseminate the Resolutions of the Congresses of the Union and Associations at all levels. A prominent activity is that the School Union has successfully organized the Contest "Telling stories about Ho Chi Minh's moral example" with the participation of 100% of the units under the School Youth Union. The School's team participating in the Hanoi National University competition won second prize. In addition, a cultural activity with the typical color of humanistic society also attracted the attention of students, which was the wall newspaper writing contest between the Youth Union branches and associations with the theme "Welcome Youth Month" and "Study and follow Ho Chi Minh's moral example”. 100% of the branches participated fully with 48 wall newspapers with many unique styles, demonstrating the creativity of students. The wall newspaper exhibition at the Information Room created a beautiful cultural feature of humanities students.

Learning and scientific research activitiesis still the key activity in this emulation period. The study and examination discipline is strictly implemented. Professional activity models for union members and members are still regularly deployed and operate effectively such as the "Young Manager" club (Faculty of Management Science), "Future Journalist" (Faculty of Journalism and Communication)... The branches and associations have coordinated with the Faculty Board to successfully organize the Student Scientific Report Conference at all levels. In order to encourage scientific research activities among students, the Executive Committee of the Youth Union and the Student Association have selected 03 student scientific reports of good quality, of practical significance to study and movement activities to award prizes.

Another key activity of the competition isimprove quality of lifeat the branches and associations. A challenge for the current activities of the union is to have positive, reasonable changes, suitable for the transition to the credit training model. Adapting to the new situation, most of the branches and associations still maintain a fixed schedule of activities, proactively building training programs for union members of their units during the emulation period. The work of union member management has been strengthened. Many outstanding union members of the Union of the Faculty of History, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Literature... have been considered for Party admission during this emulation period.

Many rich and practical cultural, sports and social activities to celebrate major holidays organized by the Youth Union and Student Association have enriched the cultural and spiritual life of union members. This is also a strength, creating a unique position for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Typical activities include: second prize for the entire delegation in the Bright Youth Camp organized by VNU; first prize for the entire delegation in the "Singing for People" contest - VNU; winning the awards of Beauty Queen, Runner-up of Wisdom, and Lovely Face in the "Elegant Female Student of VNU" contest; successfully hosting the Student Singing Festival of 3 universities; organizing the "Humanitarian Blood Donation" day attracting a large number of students in the school to participate; Coordinated with the Sports Association to organize the 2nd Aerobic Competition with the participation of 11/13 student union branches... Groups, teams, and groups such as the Student Social Work Team, Student Volunteer Team, and Information Department also implemented many meaningful activities, typical of their units... The above activities have contributed to educating students on a healthy, positive lifestyle, promoting the youth, creativity, and enthusiasm of union members to contribute to the general movement.

Summarizing the emulation period, comrade Trinh Minh Thai - Deputy Secretary of the School Youth Union, President of the School Student Association - affirmed: The peak emulation period ended with many good results. Through that, many lessons were also drawn: "In the next competitions, we will further strengthen the inspection and supervision of implementation, increase meetings and reporting of the situation among members of the steering committee. Information and exchange work between the levels of the union and association need to be more proactively implemented to promptly resolve arising issues.”.

In the emulation summary session held on May 19, 2008, many groups and individuals of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Youth Union received certificates of merit from the Youth Union and Student Associations at all levels for their achievements in the 77-day emulation session to celebrate the month of members and the 118th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday: 03 groups and 06 individuals received certificates of merit from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam National University Youth Union; 10 groups of inter-branch Youth Unions and 24 individuals received certificates of merit from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Youth Union; 02 groups and 05 individuals received certificates of merit from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Student Association.
