The Singing Contest for Staff and Students to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be held on three evenings, November 10, 11 and 13, 2010.

I. Purpose and meaning

- Continue to maintain the tradition of cultural and artistic activities of the school's staff and students through the Student Singing Contests and the Trade Union Singing Festival over the years. - Celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20 and celebrate the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh signing the Decree to establish the University of Literature - the predecessor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. - Create an environment for exchange between staff and students, both enriching the spiritual and cultural life and honoring the teacher-student relationship, the spirit of solidarity, working and studying together to build the school to develop more and more.

II. Time and location of the contest

2.1. Time- 02 competition nights: 19:30 November 10, 11, 2010 (Wednesday, Thursday). - Award ceremony night: 19:30 November 13, 2010 (Saturday).2.2. Location- 02 competition nights: Me Tri Dormitory Cultural House - 182 Luong The Vinh, Hanoi. - Award ceremony night with the theme "Welcome Song": Outdoor stage, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, within the framework of the Camp to celebrate 65 years of the school's tradition.

III. Contest Rules

3.1. Contest ThemePraising the glorious Party, great Uncle Ho, love for the homeland; praising the beauty of the Vietnamese people, the capital Hanoi; honoring the relationship between teachers and students, universities in general and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, bright examples, ideals of life and feelings of noble humanistic meaning.3.2. Contestants- Staff currently working at the school. Students of all training systems currently studying. - Each affiliated Faculty/Department (corresponding to the Departmental Unions, Union Branches, and Association Branches) is 01 unit participating in the Contest. Unions I, II and III of the Headquarters Block, and 2+2 student classes are 01 unit participating in the Contest.3.3. Time and duration of rehearsal and competitionThe rehearsal and competition time of the units is based on the results of the draw. Each unit has 40 minutes to rehearse the program. Each unit has 20 minutes to perform the competition program (not including preparation time). In the competition program of the units, if it is more than 1 minute, 0.5 points will be deducted from the average score of the competition programs. If at the time of performance, any unit is absent, the program will be considered not participating in the competition.3.4. ScoreThe Organizing Committee is responsible for inviting a panel of judges who are experts and have social prestige to evaluate and score. The units are scored by the panel of judges for each performance in the program participating in the competition. The scale for each performance is a 10-point scale. The average score of the competition program is calculated by dividing the total score of the performances by the total number of performances in the competition program of each team. This includes points for performance style, costumes, accompaniment, overall quality and theme of the competition program. All issues related to scores are decided and are the responsibility of the panel of judges.3.5. Performance formThe programs participating in the Contest of the units can be presented in many different forms: choir, group singing, trio singing, duet singing, solo singing, etc. The Organizing Committee encourages the programs to participate in the Contest with a theme, with choir performances with many participants, with reasonable illustrations, self-composed songs - especially songs composed about the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The genre of the songs can be different such as pre-war music, revolutionary songs, youth music, folk music, etc., depending on the choice of each unit to be suitable and best demonstrate the performance ability of the unit. Songs with lyrics that are not suitable for Vietnamese customs and ethics are not allowed to participate in the Contest.3.6. About complaints, rewards and disciplineAny complaints about the results and the competition process from the units must be presented in writing, and representatives of the units must work directly with the Organizing Committee immediately after the end of the Competition so that the Organizing Committee can have an appropriate solution. Any uncivilized behavior (words, gestures, actions, etc.) that causes disorder and disunity among the participating units, negatively affecting the Competition will be deducted from the overall achievements of that unit. Each individual will be subject to disciplinary action according to current regulations. IV. Awards4.1. Collective solution- 01 First Prize: 2,000,000 VND - 02 Second Prizes: 1,500,000 VND/prize - 03 Third Prizes: 1,000,000 VND/prize - 09 Consolation Prizes (KK): 500,000 VND/prize4.2. Solve the topic and performance- Best song praising the Party, love for homeland and country: 300,000 VND - Best song about Uncle Ho: 300,000 VND - Best song about school: 300,000 VND - Impressive performance, elaborate staging: 300,000 VND - Prize for performance by foreign students: 300,000 VND4.3. Individual awards- 01 First Prize for staff and 01 First Prize for students: 400,000 VND/prize. - 01 Second Prize for staff and 01 Second Prize for students: 300,000 VND/prize. - 01 Third Prize for staff and 01 Third Prize for students: 200,000 VND/prize. - 01 Consolation Prize for staff and 01 Consolation Prize for students: 100,000 VND/prize.

V. Awards Ceremony

Immediately after the final competition night, the Organizing Committee will announce the list of selected performances to perform on the award night, which are excellent performances with performance content that is consistent with the overall performance program of the award night. The competition results will be announced and awarded directly on the award night in the program "Welcome Song" to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

VI. Progress of implementation of work contents for the Competition

- September 2010: Develop a plan, report to the school leaders for approval. - October 2010: Deploy the plan to the units, the units organize the development of the program and practice; implement communication activities about the Competition; prepare the content for the Competition. October 5, 2010: Meeting to draw lots for the order of rehearsal and performance. - November 2010 (expected November 10 and 11, 2010): Organize the Competition. - November 13, 2010: Performance and awarding of the performances.
