The conference was attended by 80 delegates who are scientists, experts, and managers from many different library information agencies across the country with a total of 50 presentations. The main content of the workshop focused on discussing theoretical and practical issues of the Vietnamese Information and Library sector after 25 years of national renovation and international integration, proposing practical solutions for the process of renovation and integration, contributing to the renovation and integration in the next stage of the Vietnamese Information and Library sector. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Quy (Head of the Faculty of Information and Library) reviewed the outstanding achievements of the Information and Library sector in 25 years of renovation and international integration. Especially in the work of training human resources after 25 years of renovation, it has developed strongly in both quantity and quality. Before 1986, there were only 2 professional undergraduate training institutions and 2 non-professional training institutions, with no postgraduate training. Up to now, professional training institutions include: 3 doctoral training institutions, 15 bachelor training institutions, 20 college training institutions, 18 intermediate training institutions and 10 non-specialized training institutions for short-term professional training courses. In addition, some typical achievements in professional work, staff development, scientific research, foreign affairs and international cooperation... were also clearly stated by Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy at the workshop. The presentation on "Opportunities and challenges for information - library activities and the role of training institutions in the development of information - library activities in Vietnam" by MSc. Ngo Van Chung (Director of the Military Library) especially emphasized the role of training institutions in general, the Faculty of Information - Library of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, in the development of Information - Library activities in Vietnam: training institutions play an important role in creating the level and capacity of the staff and library employees. To further improve the quality of training of staff and library employees, MSc. Ngo Van Chung made 2 proposals: First, the content of the training program needs to be innovated to meet a number of requirements: providing students with a comprehensive knowledge system to help students adapt to the development trends of society and the industry after graduation; focusing on providing knowledge of library information management in a market economy; improving foreign language proficiency and the ability to use modern technical means. Second, the State, ministries, branches, and competent agencies must have appropriate investment policies for training.

In order to further improve the quality of training of Information - Library staff in the trend of integration and development, MSc. Tran Huu Huynh (Deputy Head of the Faculty of Information - Library, University of Social Sciences and Humanities) stated that in the coming time, the Faculty needs to implement a number of solutions: reduce traditional library science subjects, enhance information and communication technology, content technology, marketing; innovate content and improve skills in applying international professional standards: DDC classification framework, MARC21 format; equip standard lecture halls for students to practice skills; compile textbooks and reference materials; improve the quality of specialized foreign languages for students; Expanding new strategic subjects according to social requirements... Continuing to innovate and integrate the Vietnamese library industry, according to Mr. Vu Van Son (Vietnam Association for Scientific and Technological Information), the library industry has had and is having favorable conditions: many large libraries in our country have participated in the world and regional library community, there have been legal documents as a basis for integration and ensuring resources for sustainable development, the most effective document of which is the Library Law. At the same time, Vietnam has participated in the International and State Standards Organization and has also established the TCVN46 Standards Board to compile and submit to the government for promulgation of standards compatible with ISO. And many other presentations and opinions at the conference mentioned each issue and specific activities of the industry: "Trends of coordination and association to build and share information resources in Vietnam", "Management of information resources - libraries in modern society", "Sharing library resources in the early days of Google"... contributing to further clarifying the role of the Information - Library industry and the development of the industry in the future.
