Attending the conference were Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu - Vice Principal of the School, lecturers, scientists inside and outside the school.56 reports submitted to the conference focused on discussing the main content of theoretical and practical issues in the reception of literature and art in Vietnam during the integration period. In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu emphasized: The issues of aesthetics of reception of the West based on the experience of Western art, the concepts of the East and our ancestors about literature, literary appreciation, literary criticism, ways of receiving the literary and artistic heritage of the nation and humanity as well as literary criticism and teaching activities in the period of international integration, in the context of the strong development of directly related scientific disciplines and fields such as linguistics, semiotics, discourse analysis, anthropology, sociology, psychology, etc. are extremely attractive issues, but also extremely complex. These issues can be thoroughly resolved, reaching consensus, but may also remain open, requiring continued research, exploration and discussion.

At the workshop on the reception of literature and art in Vietnam during the integration period, Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Phuong (Head of the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said that receiving literature from a cultural perspective is a necessary method of reception, especially in the current period. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Phuong, cultural reception is essentially a process of communication. The communication between the author and the recipient is the relationship between the speaker and the listener, the writer and the reader, the expresser and the sharer, the sympathizer. Receiving literature from a cultural perspective does not advocate understanding the artistic world of the work as a closed universe, but sets out the task of comparing, contrasting, and tracing the cultural concepts of the era in which the work was produced to find the origin of the forms of conceptions about people, space, and time in the work. Author Nguyen Hoa (Head of the Culture and Arts Department of Nhan Dan Newspaper) expressed his opinion on a situation that has existed and is still existing in the perception of works of visual art. The author emphasized that the majority of the Vietnamese public has not yet adapted to schools and modern art movements of Western origin, people are almost used to and only use the criterion of "similar or dissimilar" of the spirit to evaluate works. Focusing on discussing many practical issues in the reception of Vietnamese literature in the integration period, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huy Bac (Hanoi Pedagogical University I) mentioned Vietnamese postmodern literature. The author raised the issue that: in the context of "preferring materialism" today, spiritual values are neglected, evidenced by the neglect of literature in schools and in real life, so postmodern literature is even more difficult to approach life. Author Dang Anh Dao (Faculty of Literature) had an opinion exchange emphasizing the "application of comparative literature - an inevitable and unique way of reception in current comparative research", comparative literature is not the artist's fiction, it depends on specialized scientific knowledge, the ability to cover the material and creative personality in both the source and receiver. In addition, many other opinions also focused on exchanging from general theoretical issues: reception of modern literary concepts and trends requiring systematicity - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Dan (Institute of Literature Research), the issue of reception of foreign literature - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Truong Lich (Faculty of Literature) ... To specific practical issues: reception of M. Baktine's novel theory in Vietnam - Lecturer. Bui Viet Thang (Faculty of Literature), the issue of readers - reception in novel theory in Vietnam from the beginning of the 20th century to the present - Nguyen Ngoc Thien (Dien Dan Van Nghe Magazine) ...
