Welcoming the delegation of Hyupsung University (Korea)

On July 1, 2008, a delegation from Hyupsung University (Korea) led by Dr. Moon - Ja Choi (Director) visited and worked at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

On July 1, 2008, a delegation from Hyupsung University (Korea) led by Dr. Moon - Ja Choi (Director) visited and worked at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu (Vice Principal of the School) and Professor, Dr. Mai Ngoc Chu (Head of the Faculty of Oriental Studies) received the delegation.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mai Ngoc Chu gave a brief introduction about the training in Korean Studies at the university.Faculty of Oriental Studies. This is one of nine institutions nationwide that offers Korean language training and one of two that teach Korean culture. The Faculty has currently implemented a master's program in Korean Studies. The Korean Studies Department currently has 6 lecturers who were trained in Korea. The professor affirmed that Vietnam is one of the strongest countries in Southeast Asia and Australia in Korean studies. Vietnamese students who graduate from Korean Studies can easily find jobs and make a living from the professional knowledge they have learned. In recent times, along with the continuous development of the Vietnam - Korea relationship, the Faculty of Oriental Studies in particular and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have had increasingly deep cooperation with many Korean universities and organizations. Most recently, the collaboration in compiling and translating two advanced Korean textbooks, "Korean History" and "Contemporary Korean Society" with Seoul National University; implementing the workshop "Korea and Korean Studies from an Asian Perspective" will take place in November 2008 in Vietnam, hosted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

On behalf of the University, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu expressed his admiration for the economic, cultural and educational achievements of Korea in recent years; affirmed that Vietnam and Korea have many similarities in culture and history, so there are many advantages for implementing cooperation activities between the two sides. The Associate Professor also proposed some suggestions for cooperation between the two sides in the field of Korean studies and the fields of social sciences and humanities.

In response, Dr. Moon - Ja Choi also affirmed her desire to cooperate with the University in many fields. In particular, Ms. Moon - Ja Choi is particularly interested in the potential and prospects for research in Korean Studies and Christianity at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Also at the meeting, Dr. Moon - Ja Choi, on behalf of Hyupsung University, presented a scholarship to Korean Studies students with good academic performance at the school. The meeting was the first step in the plan to explore and implement cooperation plans between the two sides in the future.

Hyupsung University (Korea) was founded in 1977 and currently offers undergraduate and graduate training in: theology, social sciences, business administration, engineering science, arts studies...
